trying to diet....

but I am not suppopsed to have a cheat meal EVERY day.

Why, oh why, can't I just have a normal relationship with food like everyone else. Why do I always have to fucking binge whenever I try dieting. I have so much willpower and strength for everything ELSE in my life, I will train no matter what, for example, but this one thing with FOOD is the problem.... argh.

At least I don't wanna look like Ally McBeal any more. (although eating curries isn't a good way to get that look lol).

I just get so FUCKING HUNGRY after working out and I binge like a pig.

binge on healthy food... i know what you are saying tho i have to get totally obsessed to make a diet work for me as i made reference to twice today. But you can eat a lot of calories when you low carb... i actually had a hard time getting enough calories and variety definately wasn;t the spice of life when i was low carbing for sure

it's all in your head...it's all about self control, smoking, chewing, drugs is one thing, but common, it's just food. u dont need it......HAAH yeah it sucks, good thing i'm bulking right now :)

honestly i dont get it. I stay on a diet the whole year. I am supposed to have 1 cheat day a week. But its more like 1 a month for me. I dont need it at all. One reason is because i DONT buy into the low-low.carb hype. When i dieted down this summer i was NEVER lower than 300g carbs a day. Only on my 3 carb depletion days, but that was it. Now im at 400g carbs a day, and looking and feeling great. You just have to gut it out :)

I don't know how you do it MrMuscle. I mean, shit, I don't even take in 300g of carbs/day when I'm bulking. lol I think you must be a mutant or something.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with binging, but make it healthy food. Cook up a lobster every so often, or grill up some shrimp and scallops. I have a 4 lb roast in my fridge that I cooked the other day...it's a great alternative to whey/flax/water shakes.

I have been cheating about once a week while I started dieting and it has helpled me keep my weight the same while still getting leaner. I am still 6'1'' and 260 and have been doing this for 3 weeks but I have already lost a lot of water and some fat as I already have a very low bf. I just eat a ton of doughnuts and maybe some ice cream or something and it fills me back up and than it's back to the diet. Circus girl if you are going to eat more just do more cardio and it will balance it out. Eventually you will get sick of all the cardio and force yourself to eat right if you are really that dedicated.

i know how you feel... night eating syndrome (binge eating in the middle of the night and not remembering doing it) made me suicidal and forced me to anti-d's...

the way i am doing it now is living alone. no one else here to buy food. i have nothing but tuna, salad dressing, protein powder, and fibercon in the house... the drive to the store sobers me up and keeps me from binging.

of course, this has only been for the past week or so, so too soon to tell if the success will be lasting.

 I don't know ANYONE who has a "normal relationship with food."

You DON'T have to be hungry all the time when you're "dieting." You just have to eat the right things.

A lot of us struggle with food....you're not alone.

You might want to find a partner to offer you support when you are feeling weak... I find that helps. :)

Good luck :)

circusgirl, at least you don't skip the work out and then treat yourself to a caramel brownie from Starbucks for being stressed out like I did today!

Do this:

8 glasses of water a day
run 2 miles on a treadmill every day
"think" you're more active
take r-ala from www.anabolicfitness.net
when eating, eat slow and eat til full then STOP.
take yohimburn to get rid of those final fat areas
eat more protein, animal products.
stay away from sugars, processed high calorie foods
work out at LEAST 5-6 days a week.
when working out, SWEATING is good.

do all that, feed some ducks in a park, and you'll drop weight big time within a few months.

And then donate some money to my "Nav thanks for the advice, now go buy a Ferrari fund".

Oh, and i'm not just the president of my advice. I went from 205 in February to 163 now doing the above. I actually need to start bulking soon. :)

Do you always give excellent advice? I'd karma you but I'm out!

hey folks, thanks for all the advice! I was freaking out yesterday because I got too lazy to cook and ordered in a chicken curry.

I like the idea of keeping some extra cooked chicken around all the time so if I need "fast food" I can just take it out of the fridge or freezer.

And I am getting better at eliminating white flour etc. I guess the switch in eating habits just takes time.

BTW, I do work out 6 days a week - 3 weights sessions, 2 2-hour karate classes, and about an hour of walking around town every day. Plus some current carpentry projects exercising my biceps, and letting the cats in and out the back when they miaow :).

I think I tend to load my cals too much at the beginning of the day as I like to be fully carbed up in time for working out. This means I get too hungry after working out and I don't eat quite enough. Shrimp though is not too expensive around here, had some a few days ago in a tomato-onion-garlic sauce I made. Very nice, very few carbs.... I'll post the recipe up on muscle food.

I'm getting enough water (c. 4 litres) as I fill an empty 2l pepsi bottle with water twice a day at work and drink it constantly at my desk.

I'm taking some ALA (not r-ala - I got the ala from kilosports).

I guess I'll keep at it, and once I get my thesis submitted (10 more days!) I'll give a ckd a go - I'll have more motivation not to cheat as that would take me out of ketosis....

Once more, thank you for all the advice folks. It really helps.
