Triple Drop Sets- Does Anyone Do Them???

I haven't tried these in YEARS! Almost 10 years to be exact. I remember when I did do them years ago. I was lean, pumped, and vascular all the time. I wasn't that strong, but I sure did look good. I did ALL my exercises like this. Chest, Biceps, Triceps, Back, etc... Hey, I was 18 years old and didn't know any better. I could recover from anything back then. I seen Dorian and Arnold train like this and I was absolutely hooked!! I'm thinking about doing them again. Has anyone tried them, lately?? Or used them before??

I did Doggcrapp's program early in the year. It has you do a main set then 2 additional sets. Same weight though, so, not technically a drop set. I liked the program for a while, but, now I'm back on the Dorian training style and loving it. Don't think I'll go back.

I throw in compound sets as well. Pretty much the same thing though.

I like doing drop sets to break down plateaus.

Gotta be careful though, with so much intensity the risk of injury goes up.

i kinda think i know what u mean.
could you post an example of the whole workout.

i always thought i looked best doing drop sets the arnold volume way, set after set. but after a month i would be so overtrained i would have to take a week off.

I sorta do "diamond sets" low, ramp up to low rep maxes, then drop sets to fatigue, for almost everything. I tried low rep, 5x5, 3x8, etc and nothing produced the burn and growth for ME that "diamond sets" do. I think its different for everyone. You body grows chemically, not mechanically, so it doesn't repair local strain in your bicep, which is why spot training doesn't work and why legs are so important. You have to overtax the muscle enough to make it tell your brain to release "grow juice" : cortisol, epinephrine, new rRNA transcription . . . So each person varies in what really taxes them and what makes their body scream "GROW" to the brain, how many sets, how many reps, etc. Drop sets work for me, if they work for you -- go with it, man! I spent a lot of years listening to other people on training methods and not growing, so I stopped listening to other people and started listening to my own body. Now I can't stop growing :D

I always call them stripping sets, and yes I use them. I'm a big fan of stripping sets, supersets, and trisets right now. Use them every workout.

I definitely do drop sets, love them. not on all muscles though. I don't drop set my squats for instance, but for smaller muscles like shoulders, bi's, tri's, calves, traps.
I'll usually do my first set to about 6-8 reps and then unload enough weight to do another 6-8 and shoot for 6-10 on the last set, depending on the exercise.
Although, i don't do them all the time, i just work them in when I feel the need.

I guess that means that doing legs is a MUST eh? I have huge legs already and the only exercise they get is from cardio so I never work them, but does that mean I'm waisting my time by cutting legs out of the workout? Oh, btw, the way i train, I do 4 sets. Say for Bi's, start with 12 reps of 40, 10 reps of 50, 8 reps of 55 and then max out at 60. I'm trying to increase my strength right now so...

I do them when-ever i am short on time in the gym.
You can get your workout in less than half the time.
Have had some pretty intense workouts in 20 minutes using this method.
Remember anything that the muscles are not acustomed to will produce results.

Do you think someone could use Drop(Stripping)Sets exclusively without getting burned out and overtraining? Maybe if they kept the sets down to 3-5 sets for small bodyparts and 6-8 sets for big bodyparts. Sounds Ok??

That's the ONLY way I lift, except I rarely hit 12 reps, unless it's legs, I stick between 4-10.
