First there was flares, then I saw the TV trucks, and I thought, uh oh.
Next I saw a motorcycle tire on the left side of the road, and parts scattered all over. Then came the smashed up bike frame, and a pair of jeans and boots sticking out of a tarp. They must've clean up a bit. The tarp didn't look like it had a full body under it.

A motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday when he struck the back of a pickup truck along River Road just west of Puyallup, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The deadly collision occurred just before 3:30 a.m. and blocked all lanes of River Road, also known as state Route 167, heading toward Tacoma at 31st Avenue Court East, trooper Mark Lewis said. The lanes were expected to be open by 7:45 a.m.

The motorcyclist was riding toward Tacoma at a high-rate of speed when he ran into the back of the pickup truck, Lewis said. The rider was ejected and landed between two southbound lanes. His motorcycle ended up in a northbound lane.

Moments later, a good Samaritan made a U-turn and parked behind the motorcycle rider to protect him from traffic, Lewis said.

Meanwhile, a car headed northbound hit the motorcycle, sending it into the southbound lanes. The bike hit the rider and the Samaritan’s car, Lewis said.

“The motorcycle was like a pingpong ball,” he said.

Another vehicle struck the front wheel of the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. He has not been identified. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.

“Speed definitely was a contributing factor,” Lewis said.

If this was a pickup truck that crashed into a semi, would you never drive a pickup at night? we all take risks, everyday. its a matter of making the right decisions, but u may never get the chance to reflect on that decision. yes, a bike is a higher risk, and speeding on one at night is even more of a risk, these are just choices we make.

Same thing happened here the other day on my way home from work. The lady wasn't on a motorcycle, but her tire went flat... She pulled over to the side of the road, got out of her vehicle, and was hit by oncoming traffic. Sad
