Top Supplements?

This is my first post so go easy on me.

I'm an ectomorph & have been working out 3-4 times a week for 18 months & am looking to add mass naturally.

I'm 6"1' & have been stuck @170-175lbs for months! My shape is improving, but its so damn slow. I don't want to be huge, more like Brad Pitt in Fight Club.

I'm presently using creatine, L-Glutamine, 4 daily Whey/flax/olive oil shakes & a multivitamin. I'm on a 5-day low-carb, 2-day carb load cycle.

Is this a good beginner stack or a waste of cash? Would ZMA be a good addition? ALA? Any other worthwhile additions?

I'd like to start off by saying Creatine is garbadge! Yeah you add water weight that helps rebuild but really it doesn't do much. I've never takin L-Glutamine and have never had a problem (I even run 3miles minium a day). If your looking to stay natural and add a supplement then your no longer natural. Hell your not natural now creatine counts for something. My first stack was 1 ad and 4 ad. I only took about half the bottles of each. I gained a total of around 10-15lbs and huge gains in lifting. I'm 6'1 185lbs now. When I weighted 160 I was stuck at 170 as my bench max. After I started taking the 1 ad and 4 ad stack I was no longer stuck till I reached 280. I have no idea what my max is now. First set is 185 10reps then 195 10reps and 205 6-8 reps. I'm currently stuck now. I purchased paradeca and decarvar as I know of 2 people that have taking it with great results. Judging on how I did on the 1 ad and 4 ad stack I'd say my body response very well to supplements. These are MUCH more potent! I'm taking people report gains as much and more then illegal steriods. Infact these are banned in Cali and the food and drug adminstration is trying to ban them all over. My diet consist of almost anything and everything. I try and limit fast food, no soda, or candy. I've tried other diets but nothing changed so why not eat the way I want? Just some info for you, you make the decision. Just remember supplements ARE NOT good for your health.

This is what I'd did and has worked for me since November. I threw all other diets out the window and said fuck it! I eat Tuna, red meat, chicken breast, eggs. I try to accumulated about 300g of protein and 4500 calories a day. I have had amazing noticeable gains. Just eat a ton of food dude, and lots of protein. For weight gaining I personally like N-large II, it has helped me gain a lot of weight, seriously.

I think what your currently on is fine...time will tell. If it's not working for you then save some buck$ and drop the sups.

I do agree with Johnl when he says to eat what you want...I think you'll see far better growth from mass quantities of WHOLE foods than you will with sups.

The choice is yours....keep posting & reading the boards...the Training Board has helped me tremendously.

Is that a joke?

Are you going to try to suggest that taking Flax or VitC or R-ALA is not good for you?

And nobody asked about your opinions on being "natural".
 
Most supplements are not good for your health. I'm letting a newbe know my opionions which is what he is asking for....opionions. Could care less if you disagree "natural" is natural is natural. Taking something to help with gains is no longer natural! I eat a ton. The majority of my diet consist of turkey. But that's not to say I don't go out to dinner and eat other things. Everyone has their own opionions and I have given mine. Basicly it boils down to this: Everyone has their answers, and their answers work for them. What works for them may not work for you! You must find out what is best for you by experimenting with different things. Just my thoughts,

For the most part, I think the advice that johnl is giving you is less than good, but do your own research and decide for yourself.

The bottom line is, if you're not gaining weight, you're not eating enough. There really isn't any way around that. If you take in more than you burn, you'll gain weight. Whether it's muscle or fat depends on your diet and training, so double check how many calories and how much protein you eat everyday. I don't know much about the 5/2 split that you're doing...maybe someone else will chime in with some input.

The L-Glutamine prolly isn't doing alot. Glut isn't absorbed very well when taken orally. The AF store has a different form called GPlenish which alot of guys around here swear by. Make sure you get enough minerals like Zinc and Potassium.
 
Info I have given is less then good? Whatever, I do agree that to gain you must eat lots! In my experience if I want to gain weight I stop cardio or do it much less as instead of everyday I do it 2-3days per week. This helps alot when I want to put on weight. Taking in food to gain is still natural. Your no longer natural when your using supplements in order to gain imo. Everyones opionions are different as I said before so it all depends on your definition. Good luck with whatever you do,

P.S. Supplements such as 1ad, paradeca and so on are not exactly good for you. The food and drug adminstration is trying to ban alot of these supplements. Could you think of a few reasons why? Just some more thoughts.

I completely disagree.This is one of the few major supplements that the scientific community has repeatedly has proven to increase strength, and endurance. More strength and endurance allow you to work harder longer and as long as you provide your body with the nutrients it needs one is going to build more muscle by doing more work.

Johnl you may be a creatine non-responder like a few people are, but the overwhelming majority agrees creatine is indeed not garbage.
 
Ok, so you can get creaine from red meat. What you are suggesting is that to maintain my "natural" status, I should no longer eat red meat. Or if I want to consume more of it than most people, I will no longer be "natural" because of the extra creatine I will be taking in. Or am I still misunderstanding?

The argument should no longer be about natural or not. If something occurs naturally in food or in our own bodies, how can you claim that it's not natural? The real argument should be whether someone obtained results from something legal or illegal like steroids.

And the term "supplements" are not only 1-AD and other prohormones. The term includes creatine, antioxidants, Avena Sativa to free up test, etc etc.
Those are hardly bad for you. And just because the FDA wants to ban something doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad for you. He who has the bigger wallet determines what laws are made. Take ephedra for example...

In all my experience 'natural' or 'unnatural' has always referred to whether or not someone has used substances to achieve a supraphysiological (or subphysiological) hormone level. I would consider prohormones use to be 'unnatural' since some of them definitely raise your testosterone levels.

You could also take a legalistic point of view: you're 'natural' as long as you aren't using anything banned by the NCAA, IOC, etc.
 
Dudenhagen post your diet. You should be gaining about a 1.0 to 1.5 lbs a week. If your not either your diet is off or your training is off or both. Its better to figure out what your doing wrong before adding supps to help out. Once you figure things out then by all means add a few supps and see if they work.

Don't feel bad dudehagen i am an ectomorph too. I feel like a freak alot because of it. I always wondered if anymore people were out there like me. I always wore pants because i was ashame of my skinny legs. I use to put on extra layers of clothing because i would get embarrassed in public. I still have a problem putting on body weight and muscle mass. My lunch consists of Spaghetti and potatoes every day. Maybe thats reason im not gaining any weight? I really don't know what to do. My goal is to get up to 220lbs and i will be more than satisfied. That would be 40lbs more than what i am now. Im currently at 180/185. I ate protein bars but i didn't really care for them. Now im trying to put on weight by eating lots of bananas. An old friend of mine told me if i want it it will come. I just have to work for it. Nothing comes easy in this world! Just hang in there man and it will happen. Just remember you aren't alone and like someone told me never compare yourself to someone else. Everybody is different.
 
You people are talkin nonsense....First of all creatine is not GARBAGE...Not everyone responds to it so if it doesnt work for you and you are determined to GROW just move on to another supp. It's not easy finding something that works for "YOU". Thats what matters not what this guy or that guy got results from. To be honest with you i just tried T_REX which has been nothing but the talk of this board for a while and ya know what, it did jack shit for me but i gave it to my partner and he's getting nice results from it's thermogenic properties. My suggestion to you if you do not want to use A.A.S is to try NO2 along with R-ALA and a good diet. I have gotten unreal results from NO2. I actually added ADENERGY last week and really like it a lot because it doesnt crack you out and im definately getting insane pumps between tht and the NO2 not to mention getting leaner faster than ever (alnog with 40 min pre-training cardio 5 days a week).

If your gonna try the NO2 dont mess around and buy the good shit from MRI.
