Tool

TOOL hands down is probably the greatest band ever! Do you guys know of any other bands similar to TOOL? I like music with a dominant drum beat, not the techno or hip-hop crap btw. APC is ok, but the drummer sucks.

listening to
TOOL - opiate - opiate
...the music goes something like this
"we both want to rape you AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH"...followed by a kick ass drum rythm.

listen to TOOL's idols, King Crimson. listen to something off of the ConstruKtion of Light or The Power to Believe. Some of the best musicianship ever. Their lyrics aren't too similar to tool's at all, but they play some vicious nasty amazingly coordinated rock.

good songs are Level Five (instrumental), Facts of Life, Dangerous Curves (instrumental), the Construktion of Light, Larks Tongue in Aspic part IV (instrumental)

i will acknowledge their talent, but I'm not into progressive "industrial metal" anymore... too produced.

Have you actually listened to any decent techno, trance, or hip hop e.g. Green Velvett, Nomad, Hallucinogen, Braintax, Roots Manuva?

Nah, didn't think so...

PS: it's not crap.. no more crap than a lot of rock/metal....
PPS: bet you don't know your arse from your techno.

to each his own. personally as a musician i like when people actually make music with instruments where there's a dynamic that is absent from repetitious beats.

Totally don't know what you mean. But I find it interesting that a someone would seek to dismiss any modern huge musical genre. See, I don't think you know your techno from your drum n bass....

no, anything with synthesized electronic beats is all the same to me. beat doesn't just mean drums and bass.

i play geeeeeetaaawr but will never be satisfied w/ my abilities. I get the impression supernav is a 'leet' musician.

i play too, and think i'll never be satisfied, but that's what drives me to get better. just like with bodybuilding, i can't see myself being satisfied, but i push harder to get better

tool are hype

there's a bit of truth to that. tool has a lot of potential, there are some talented musicians in the band, but i feel that a lot of their material is repetitive.
