TOOL concert last night - HUGE disappointment!!

Well, actually the disappointment was my GHB wearing off half way through Tool's set.

I've had them check my shoes before so I didn't want to sneak in a couple vials. Of course they didn't check my shoes this time and I was kind of thinking of heading back to my car but didn't.

The show kicked ass and my favorite was probably Aenima. Great new set background and the visuals were awesome/trippy as always. I think they played everything off Lateralus, except Ticks and Leaches. Whatsup with dat?!

I made an interesting observation (well, everything was interesting at the time)

I would say the average Tool Fan has 20-30 lbs on the average Linkin Park fan as well as 5-10 years of age. This may be because Tool has been around since early '90s or it may be because Linkin' Park is a boy band. I don't know.

I was at the show last night.

I had floor tickets in Sacramento, but Seats in LA. So the LA show was not as good just because of that.

Plus in Sacramento they played H, Opiate, and Ticks and Leeches!

LA they played 46&2 which they played heavily on prior tours.

Their visuals are top notch.. awesome.. I've had some Alex Grey prints in my house for a long time now.. the backdrop is similar to one that I have.

Hands down Tool is the best modern rock band of the past two decades.

lol I love how many TOOL fans have come out of the wood work in the last 2 years.

I can relate to that... I love asking die hard peppers fans what their favorite song off of Mother's Milk is...

I still remember the first day I hear tool in my life. I got a ride home from a guy from track practice.. he had the tape playing in his el camino. Prison sex was on.. I was like "holy shit dude who is this?" he said Tool.. I was like... huh? Tool? He said yeah and showed me the cover of Undertow.. the red ribcage sculture.. when I got home i took my moms van and drove to the wherehouse and picked up the tape. I listed to that thing non-stop before every cross country and track meet.. talk about getting pumped.

Then before I had ever moved to San Diego.. I drove from Sacramento to San Diego (500 miles) to see them in 1995 at a club.. They ended up playing 5 songs from Aenima that was not released yet.. I was like "What songs are these!'

The most irconic bit about that show in 1995... the openers. Two big fat dudes came out with acoustic cguitars.. one bald.. they yelled and screamed songs.. and the crowded booed forever.. yelling "TOOL"..

Little did I know, that was Jack Black up there with Tenacious D.. a band I like now.. I'm a huge Jack Black fan.. at the time I thought that was the worst shit ever.

good to see a diehard, I have been a fan since 95' of course prison sex was the song that made me say "holly shit"...but all of
Undertow kicked ass. The kind of album you just play over and over.

Aenima is of course my fav. tool album so far, I had to buy two CDS one for home and one for the car.

Just a killer band, their rifts are much like a modern day Zeplan.

I've been saying the same thing forever.
With the earth's impending doom (check out their website for details) this may be their last tour before they head to their bomb shelters.

I was pretty sick last night, popping 6 grams of vitamin C yesterday, but not once did I even think of not going.. I think I was sick from my weak immune system from no fruits for 6 weeks because of CKD. I think that actually added to my enjoyment of the event.
