too much sleep a bad thing?

Ever since I got home from college last week, I have been sleeping for 11 hours a night. Is too much sleep a bad thing? I figure those extra 3 hours im sleeping I could be eating an extra 600 calories :p

this is a good point. i often wonder whether to sleep 7 hours and get extra food/protein in or get 10 hours kip.

food or sleep???

re

im guilty of this too. i'm sure i would get better results if i would wake up everyday at the same time, eat my meals accordingly and workout at the same time and get the same sleep everynight, but my life doesnt allow that right now.

i wake up in the morning and make a 1/2 dozen eggs or so, or make a shake or whatever. then back to bed for a bit. summer break kicks ass

10-12 hours of sleep cant hurt if you make sure to consume a meal or a shake sometime in the middle.

Actually there was a study published that said that if you sleep more or less than 8 hours every day, then you are more prone to a heart attack.

Personally the ideal amount of sleep is 7 to 8 hours. I find myself more awake and energetic with this many hours of rest.

I tend to want to sleep in all the time and when I give in my day always seems to be less productive, as well as feeling lazy.

when on the juice, 7-8 hours of sleep and i naturally wake up whereas when off the sauce i can sleep 10-12 hours quite easily.

probably casue the body is healing much quicker.:alien:

I never use an alarm clock. I sleep until it time to get up. And I eat when I'm hungry. Usually 8 to 12 hours of sleep. I give my body enough time to recover as nessecary. I feel great too.

hmmm, well I need 9-10 hours otherwise I feel tired. I can easily sleep 12-13 when my alarm clock is switched off.

I have seen studies which say that more than 10 hours is unhealthy. However with training sleep is always good. I find when I am training hard I need more sleep.

Before you go to bed you could eat some cottage cheese. The casseins (protein) in this are released slowly, feeding your muscles for many hours while you sleep. You could also get up half way through the night and eat some more to keep your body supplied.

As for being up longer so you can eat more, sleeping isn't all bad. When you are sleeping an extra 3 hours, your metabolism is slowed right down for three hours more, so you are consuming less calories by being asleep.

im not depressed or anything, i fixed me a protein shake and some cheese last night when i woke up for my middle of the night piss, then went back to sleep :-)

i always have to take a piss in the middle of the night and the first thing you will see when you walk into my bathroom is my protein tub w/mixer

As long as you do this, you wont have any immediate problems. Just make sure you eat some good quality proteins sometime in the middle of the next. Slow it down with some flax.

BIG D HASEK
