too much l-glutamine

rez

New member
is there a limit per day? would there be anything wrong with taking more than the daily recommendation?

Probably won't hurt you...probably won't help you much either...

There's a debate about how well your body can absorb powdered l-glutamine anyway - but I've heard of guys at my gym taking upwards of 60 grams a day (divided into 10 gram doses) - don't ask me how they afford it because that stuff is expensive...

I recall that you're cutting....so I'd take it on an empty stomach (first thing in the morning) and make sure to add some b6 (might help with absorption) if there isn't any already included (some brands don't have B6)...

I really don't think anything over 20 grams a day is gonna make a difference.

screw l gultamine!

this stuff is close to the stuff I will put out on the market

try this instead.......you will know , see, and feel the differnece rez........

Glutamine is an amino acid so it has ~4 calories per gram. As long as you add these calories to your daily total (so 60g would be an extra 240 calories), drink LOTS of water (it will dehydrate you) and are not on a ketogenic diet, you should be fine.

No real limit that people can set. I usually recommend, for immunological properties, at least 0.1 g per 1lb. of bodyweight, so a 100lb. person would take in 10g per day. It's a crude way to do it, but the only way I figured out over the net.

hey mallacca!
Look, my Glutamine is not on the market yet, but there isssssssss a difference.
by the way I just got the data sheets today, and sample packs....
and the data shows a stark difference to what popluar brands do to theirs, and what I do to mine......just like how protien powders are different, so goes the same with glutamines.

any way .......... lalalalalalaal

OMEGA,

I know what Mallacca means......I read fluent greek.....

On a side note, you will be right when you show me the studies coparing the top 5 brands and the lowest 5 brands (like proteinfactory) to your product. MOLECULAR studies not just human studies, then I'll be w/ you on calling it the best.

email me if you wish:

Hmmm, I'm still waiting to see convincing evidence that even INTRAVENOUS glutamine has some positive effect in otherwise healthy bodybuilders on a high protein diet (in terms of either anabolism or anti-catabolism). As to anecdotal affidavits that one type of ORAL glutamine is superior to others, I really have to ask "better in what respect???" How can you possibly measure the benefits compared to other glutamines, and how can you possibly rule out placebo effect which is, by definition, dependant on the persons perceptions and expectations of what a supplement/drug MIGHT accomplish.

I mean you no disrespect OMEGA. It's just that in my field of work, the placebo effect is a HUGE and complicating factor in figuring out the value of even pharmaceutically administered drugs in double blind cross over placebo trials.......And in my personal experience, there is no population more prone to "the placebo effect" than bodybuilders.

MS would you like to try 15 ounces of this stuff on me?
I can mail you part of the batch that I just got, and YOU can be the judge

It will be enough to get a taste of if it works or not, trust me.....

it will all be on me, the mailing and the stuff itself

its handles in sanitary conditions so safety is not an issue

You offered the same to me a while back, but I never heard from you. Can you guarantee it's safety? Is it in a bottle?

The supplement companies claim that it's not a COMPLETE form of a protein, so it can be recorded w/ 0 cal if it falls below the 10cal benchmark. It's a "hidden" calorie ordeal in your case.

why exactly does glutamine kick you out of ketosis? is it because of gluconeogenesis? and in that case, if you take 10gr glutamine daily, then you could still get away with it and stay in ketosis, since those 10gr will roughly convert to 5gr carbs.

OMEGA, have you tried taking just straight LPC??? You may well find that it's not the glutamine that you're feeling, but better absorption of everything that goes down your pie-hole due to the LPC. Might be worth trying it as a side experiment?

I'll PM you soon.

Actually, not all people get kicked out of Ketosis w/ glutamine. However, for the unfortunate cases, the problem arises not w/ the carb content but w/ the 1) insulin spike it causes 2)liver glycogen it can refill (even a small amount) being enough to prevent glucagon from being released.

MS, that's the first time I've seen you say something out of a 1000% professional manner, lol. "pie-hole" makes me feel good that I am a jerk sometimes now lol :) j/k
