ZKaudio said:i'm saying that statistics are responsible for racial profiling... it's really not debatable which races have a higher crime rates. I personally acknowledge the fact that there are extraneous variables affecting all of these statistics and as a result do not form any bias or racist views based on them. I was simply offering a clarifying viewpoint

using race to decide who is more likely to be guilty of a crime is not right.

You have the wrong argument. Not once did I say this was “right” to stereotype people. I actually believe this is quit wrong, and you shouldn’t have to do this, but in same cases it is quite necessary.

If you’re in a park, and you notice a pit bull 10 feet away looking at you, you would be a little more freaked out than if it was a golden retriever correct? Why is this? There are plenty of very nice family oriented pit bulls out there that wouldn’t harm a fly. Why would you be more scared? Are you saying you would stereotype the pit bull just because it is known to be more aggressive and there are more pit bull attacks than golden retrievers?
No I’m not saying black people are like Pit Bulls and white people are like golden retrievers,

Again, no it may not be right, but it’s sometimes necessary to stereotype.

Are used car sales men know too rip people off? Isn’t that a stereotype? Is the bad ass athletes that make all the records accused of roid usage more often than the bench warmer? The fact is, it’s not right, but there are stereotypes for everything and everyone. and sometime it's necessary

Although its true socio-economic status has been positively correlated with criminal behaviour regardless of subject race or ethnic heritage, members seem to be downplaying the significant influence popular rap/ghetto culture - glorifying maladaptive attitudes and ideals - exerts on impressionable black youth.
By promulgating the continued stereotype of a black community assigning prestige only to entertainment related occupations, black 'artists' forfeit an opportunity to encourage scholastic and professional achievement in black youth, which could contribute to the redefinition of Afro-American culture and Afro-American socio-economic status.
No doubt race plays a large role as well. However, Afro-Americans economic and social salvation will likely only be hastened by a internal revaluation of their own collective culture and the (hopefully) ensuing realignment of culture-specific social values towards more prevelant norms exhibited by relatively functional societies - strong work ethic, marital fidelity, personal accountability, scholastic achievement, ect.
Alot of afroamericans need to get their house in order. But so do whites who are doing the same.

This always works once you get good at it.
