Tom Daschle Caught LYING

p0ink

New member
I dont know ho wmany of you were able to catch Tom Daschle on Sunday's Meet The Press, but this was something you should have seen. He went on there bitching, moaning, and acting totally confused about the Shadow Government (the government that will go into place in case Washington DC gets nuked) saying that him and his cronies had no idea about this 'shadow government' and that he was never informed that it existed. He went on to say that the only reason he found out it existed was reading the Washington Post, and was trying to act like some major injustice had been done against him. WELL...

On Fox News this morning, they had on a CIA Operative that was there when Daschle and the other major Democrat leaders on 9/11 were taken to the place where the 'shadow government' is to be held, in case Washington had more attacks on the way, so the government could continue running. So basically, he outright lied to the American Public when he said he never knew such a thing existed, even though Congress had been appropiating funds for it even as early as the Carter Administration.

Just watch when he gets quesitoned about him being caught red handed *LYING.* He will say something along the lines of, "well, congress doesnt know where all the money in the budget goes to...how are we supposed to know where every dollar goes?" Well Mr Senator, if you don't know where all this money is going how can you say we wont have enough money for social security, medicare, etc.?

I can't wait till he gets questioned on this.

this guy is a real sniveling piece of shit, that is only doing this to try and lower Bush's approval rating. This is just another example of democrats putting their own personal gain ahead of what is good for the country. Remember this when it comes time to vote

The good clinton did? like what? making a mockery out of the highest ranking position in the United States?

Republicans ruining the economy? are you fucking kidding me? it is the democrats that are hindering the passing of an economic stimulus plan because they do not want the economy getting better while a republican is president and while there is an election coming off. it is them that dont give a fuck about the country, instead they are putting their own self interests ahead of those of the people they fucking represent.

yeah, bush is so wrong with having a war on the animals. we should have had al gore try to use his diplomacy 'skills' with these people. i bet that would have worked so much better

way to get out of backing up your words. you probably cant name two good things clinton did for the US while in office. you know why? cuz he didnt do shit. he was lucky enough to come in during a tech boom that brought the economy way up, but he was to stupid to do anything to preserve that boom.

Two things I swore I would never talk about on this board was religion and politics but here I am.

p0ink your wasting your time, Liberal (Clinton Lovers) like NY Muscle could catch Clinton or any Democrat mugging an old lady and it would still be someone else's fault! Bush won the election! Get over it and move on!

NyM are you blind to the fact that we are in a state of war? How much can the economy grow in war time?

Must democrats always base their opinions on presidents by the economy?

I can't say that I particularly care for George W.

But I can say this: I thank my big ass every day that he and his men were running this country on 9-11 and not Gore.

And yes, Reagan helped created a huge national debt. You know what? I'd rather be in debt than still involved in the goddamn Cold War. Reagan toppled the biggest threat to our freedom this country had ever faced. 9-11 may eventually prove to be the start of bigger threat than a superpower Soviet Union was, but if we can continue to clean house in the middle east, we will have paid a small price to rid the world of this generations "evil empire."

actually the 80's were the most prosperous of years. liberals call it the decade of greed but in reality it was the decade of progress. even the poor were wealthier than they had been the previous decade which was the carter admin i do believe.

This is like watching spider monkeys throw shit back and forth at each other. LOL!!!

And on a side note if Daschle was LYING...(This makes me laugh, it's like saying you were caught breathing!)...

Anyway..

Explain this !

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A small group of congressional leaders was called to the White House for a briefing Tuesday on the Bush administration's creation of a bunker government as a fail-safe measure in the event of a catastrophic terrorist event in Washington.

Congressional sources said Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota; Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott, R-Mississippi; and House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Illinois, met with White House Chief of Staff Andy Card and President Bush's legislative liaison Nick Calio.

The meeting was intended to address a firestorm brewing between the White House and Congress over the administration's failure to inform key lawmakers about the existence of a contingency government.

Yet even as the meeting was underway, Rep. Richard Gephardt -- the top Democrat in the House of Representatives -- was home in Missouri, fuming that he had not been invited in the first place.

White House press secretary Ari Fleischer disputed claims that Daschle, the other top Democrat on the Hill -- or at least his staff -- was not briefed prior to Tuesday's meeting.

"Senator Daschle was here at the White House earlier today where White House aides and others reiterated to the senator information that had previously been provided to people who work for him," Fleischer said.

"The administration has consulted with the Congress, has informed the Congress about its programs that have been in place, as you know, since the Cold War, to have continuity of government and continuity of operations," he said.

But Daschle told reporters that Fleischer was wrong, and that he had not been informed before Tuesday morning. "That was a misstatement and I hope it is corrected," said the Senate majority leader.

Lott said he was not informed in advance either but felt it was not necessary to alert him because he is not in the direct line of succession to the presidency.

"The key people, the people in line of succession were briefed or offered a briefing in whole or in part. Certain key staff people were made aware of it, and certain key committee members were made aware of it," said Lott.

But Sen. Robert Byrd, President Pro Tempore and fourth in line to be president, maintains through his spokesman he was never told about the standby government, learning of it through newspaper accounts.

Republicans dispute this, insisting Byrd was told.

On the question of who in Congress needs to know about contingency plans for government, Daschle disagreed with Lott, saying senior lawmakers must be kept in the loop.

"I believe that the leadership in the Senate needs to know what contingency plans there are in case of an emergency. I don't think that is too much to ask. I feel as a result of the briefing I was given today, I now know. I will leave it at that," said Daschle.

Daschle and Fleischer agreed on one point -- contingency government is a more accurate and appropriate term than "shadow government."

The majority leader toned down his complaint about the lack of congressional notification following Tuesday's White House meeting.

He told reporters meeting participants agreed there was too much public debate about an issue of national security where secrecy is essential.

In its effort to appease members of Congress who've complained about being kept "out of the loop," the White House may have ruffled more feathers.

A spokesman for Gephardt -- like Daschle a potential 2004 Democratic candidate for president -- said although the congressman was out of town he was never invited to the White House meeting.

Fleischer said the invitation was "a scheduling matter" and refused to elaborate.

One senior Democratic aide said Gephardt's office was "bewildered" by the snub. Asked if it could be explained because Gephardt is not in the line of presidential succession, the aide said "neither is Lott. And neither is Daschle for that matter. It's kind of hard to make that argument when it doesn't apply to two of the three people in the room."

Gephardt's spokesman said Gephardt has never been briefed about the administration's decision to put in place the bunker government of top-level employees in secure locations outside Washington.

"It's unfortunate because he would be interested to know about the White House thinking about the shadow government. What he's said consistently is for us to succeed we need to coordinate and collaborate. If the meeting was to talk about that, it's certainly something the house Democrats would like to be represented in."

There's a separate post-Sept. 11 contingency plan for the top leadership of Congress, but the details are veiled in just as much secrecy as the plan for the executive branch.

On Sunday, Daschle suggested it would be necessary to include the congressional and judicial branches in any contingency government.

He said after his briefing Tuesday morning he simply wants better coordination between the three branches on their plans.

*Note I really think this is all total bullshit. But fun total bullshit.

I could care less about the Monica incident but he shouldn't have lied about it. The president isn't responsible for how the econmy is doing but he gets the credit good or bad. Plus the economy was doing well during the clinton period because of the Republican run congress.

The Faking of the Presidency
By Joe Otterbein

With words like "civility" and "bipartisan cooperation" President Bush is courting the Democrats and trying to assure the public he can bring a new tone to politics in Washington. The words and tone are sweet and giddy, and the GOP and the compliant corporate media are obviously charmed. But I am not so sure that either the congressional Democrats, or the public, are feeling so warm and fuzzy.
To show how nice they can be, Bush's congressional GOP allies are still trying to impeach Clinton in the court of public opinion by holding a hearing over Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich. Certainly the same gang that watched Caspar Weinberger get a presidential pardon a few days before George Bush Sr. was to testify at his hearing, could not suddenly be worried that a president might abuse the pardon power.

You would think that the GOP would want to concentrate on making sure that they and their rich contributors get a cash payback boondoggle by passing Bush's tax cut. Instead, the news is filled with the hearing on the Rich pardon. Why is the GOP stepping on their own priorities by beating a dead horse?

The truth is the GOP does not want Clinton to fade away because he provides a distraction from the Bush Presidency itself. If they take the heat off Clinton, they are afraid the real heat may begin on Bush.

One wonders what Bush must have been feeling when he saw more demonstrators along the inaugural parade than spectators. How does he feel now about the polls showing him with the highest disapproval rating of any new president in modern times? Sure he is the one who is in the White House, but he has yet to win the hearts of anyone but those who voted for him. It is hard to act presidential when you know that more Americans voted for your opponent.

The problem is for Bush, and his supporters, is that no matter how red-faced and indignant they become when question of Bush's legitimacy is raised, Bush does not know like what it feels like to be a legitimate president. Because that legitimacy can only come from the will of the people, and the will of the people was that they wanted Al Gore to be president.

No army of politicians armed with subpoenas and hearings and no amount of paid political pundits expressing disgust with Clinton, can ever overcome that basic fact. It does not matter that you live in the White House with all its power and glory, when you know deep down that the victory belonged to another man.

This is why Bush must continue to kiss up to the Democrats while allowing his party to keep the heat on Clinton in the news. It is the only way he can keep that one nagging problem buried from himself and the public. No wonder he stares at his cue cards and keeps Dick Cheney at his side when he speaks. He is not confident enough in his own legitimacy to talk to the people straight on.

The age-old question of what price must be paid for glory comes to mind. How disappointing it must be to know that the people did not elect you president. And how shallow it must feel knowing that you won all that glory not by the legitimate intent of the voters, but instead by the will and power of your brother's and father's friends.

What really galls the GOP about Clinton, is that they know he twice won more votes than his GOP opponents, making him our last legitimately elected president. How painful it must be to know that the man they constantly tried, and continue to try, to destroy with countless investigations and hearings, still has the support of more Americans than Bush.

That is why they cannot let Clinton go now. They must continue to bash him until the people no longer feel he was a legitimate president. Clinton's legitimacy is something Bush does not have. Bush cannot even fake his own legitimacy very well. Therefore, the GOP will not stop their witch-hunts, until they have destroyed Clinton.

**********ANOTHER LITTLE QUOTE**********************

The GOP still can't believe that most Americans really don't care that Clinton lied about his sex life. They will be really surprised when they find out that people (real people not media staged events,) don't like like politicians that steal elections from them.

But that's what this Clinton bashing is all about. Let's forget that little episode down in Florida as quickly as possible, so we can go back to having lavish parties for our contributors in peace. And to make sure we make a few more bucks, let's give them a big tax break. Maybe we can even have our parties on submarines, and let our donors race them around a little!

If Clinton lied about a hundred women, it is completely irrelevant when compared to the theft of an election. Maybe the corporate controlled media does want the people to think about it, but they are.

Most Americans now understand that the "liberal media" is a myth, manufactured by the media itself to hide it's corporate nature and pro big money bias. Unless you really think the GOP, with all that money, is never corrupt, you have to know that they are not perfect. If we are so concerned with what is right, then why not look into some GOP crimes, like the ones in Florida?

Oh, I forgot. All of a sudden, we don't have time for stuff like that, now the GOP and the media want to look to the future!

Yea right, the future - of more Clinton bashing.

NYCrackhead,
You start to talk about ho the republicans gave missles and guns to Iran, and how they used these weapons against the U.S.A. Then, when asked for an example of this, you say Saddam Hussein used them against America in Operation Desert Storm. Buddy, Operation DEsert Storm was against Iraq, not Iran. Down in flames goes your argument on that one.
And for your info, most of the weaponry found in the middle east is of Soviet Descent.

LOFuckingL!!! Good he did for the country. Man, you must be blind or just plain stupid. He co-oped the Republican agenda and beyond that, was forced to just stay out of the way. Congress didn't do much either after welfare reform. Both are good things. Government needs to make less laws and should start devoting time to going through the books and crossing out old ones that are no longer needed or have become too cumbersome.

There is nothing wrong with running a deficit within reason. A small surplus is better, but any surplus should be given back to the people...every time. It's called taking more than you need.

Dude, open your eyes. Clinton did nothing worthy on his own and what little he did, wasn't his to begin with.

so once Bush gives up on them and doesnt find nor kil Osama, then i can criticize him for not *killing him while he has the chance* like some asshole said in the beginning of the thread towards Clinton.

it is just a stupid circle...you cant argue with opinons, even when facts are thrown in...just doesnt work you republicans talk about spelling errors... i said it before, and look where we are at, back and forth...

I think it is somthing else.. but only in the city. The whole state is not like that... besides.. Pink233 is not a bed wetter.

Funny, I don't know any Republicans that are bringing him up. Democrats can't seem to let him go. They're still trying to explain away his felonies or inept foreign policy leadership. Let it go and we'll stop responding to your twaddle. :spin:

stupid republicans......politics as usual..

a typo,......ok dude whatever......

1. this thread was about tom daschle, and you got offensive and started trashing bush and reagan, instead of defending daschle.

2. just get over it, daschle may have been caught in a lie on national TV, why get so defensive about it.

3. you have hardly presented any kind of an arguement here. just incoherent ramblings and name calling. the very thing you accuse the stupid repubs of doing.

4. you are stupid.

LOL:D

That's all Dems have. They have no ideas of their own that the general public accepts as viable solutions. I have to admit, sometimes they drag me down to their level, but it is very brief. I tend to right myself quickly. Keep bithing Dems, keep lying, keep avoiding presenting any viable ideas and you'll keep losing.

untrue, Arie Fleisher (I'm pretty sure he's the press spokesman) had to make a direct apology to Clinton for criticizing Clintons handling if the isreali/pali situation.

Good point. However, I will remind you he was, more or less, right on the money anyway. That legacy thing...you cannot seek it or build it yourself. Others define it once you're gone. If you seek it, that is your legacy. That led him to push and push like he did, once again dabbling in foreign policy like an amateur. Arie was on target, but he should have bit his lip on that one. Or at least been a little vague in his reference to the past. Oh well, he learned a lesson like we all must periodically.

THEY *ALL* LIE!!! get over it people!

look at the whole enron scandel with bush/cheney... they ALL do it.

smalls, can you explain what you mean by "look at the whole enron scandel with bush/cheney"?

are you insinuating that because enron and the accounting firm may have falsified financial documents that let the top brass basically "pump and dump" the stocks and make millions, that somehow president bush was privi to what the accounting firm, specifically david duncun, was doing at that level.

if there's any involvement between enron and bush/cheney, i highly doubt that they were aware of that. but please explain.

I don't know. its debateable. while clinton sucked on foreign policy, he did bring the warring parties to the table on the oslo accords. And it's not like Clintons predessors came even close to that

weren't we just discussing on another thread that they both had ties to enron before the election, and that enron was the top contributor to their campaign? i thought we also had said that one of them was on the board of directors...

i'm not sure where this turned from daschle being the piece of shit that he is to a bush/clinton thing...

anyways, i hope daschle does run for the presideny in 2004 so we can assure another republican victory

You were speculating by saying that Bush/Cheney had definite illegal ties to Enron.

If Reagan, in fact was in the 'know' concerning Iran Contra--He was wrong---but even still, it was done to free American hostages.

But I was refering specifically to the Bush/Cheney/Enron accusation, which right now, has no backbone.

what was the story about daschle and other democrats in the congress and senate attacking giulliani for something because they are out of ideas?

Dan Quayle is an exceptional individual and a strong leader who was assisinated by the liberal press and turned into a villan from there----much like they are attempting to do to John Ashcroft!

I hope most here recognize this post as saying NOTHING about either Quayle or Ashcroft and instead see it as it truly is, a statement of approbation for these men. In other words, "I like Dan Quayle and John Ashcroft."

No problem with that. Could you offer some concrete reasons why you like them?

p.s. none of this "because they´re good men" "they have honor" blah blah. Things they do or have done.

he is right about the liberal press killing his public approval and his reputation. the fucking heat they brought down on him for criticizing the show murphy brown, about her having a child out of wedlock. the press had a field day with making fun of someone who has some moral integrity. And if that wasnt enough, they made such a big deal about him spelling potato with an e at the end, which is actually correct or was at one point. they were insulting his inteligence over that and making a much bigger issue out of it than it should have been.
