To those who get prescribed ambien

Ive had insomnia since i was 16 years old. I have trouble falling asleep, i could lay in bed for hours just tossing and turning and still wont fall asleep til about 3 hours later. over the years, ive had less and less sleep. In the past 2 years, my sleep has gotten worse, when i finally do fall asleep, i wake up within 2- 2 1/2 hours and cant fall back asleep. now i get about 3-4 hours of sleep per night and i usually wake every hour or so. wake around 6am, try to sleep but just lay there til 7am, so i shower and get rady for the day. Its really tough for me to keep up with my job with minimal sleep. im also a student and its hard for me to concentrate on homework and studying. Ive recently tried ambien 10mg (generic) from my grandmother. I take it at 11pm, lay in bed, at 1130pm, im oout cold til 7am without waking up once. I woke up "refreshed" like never before. ive taking melatonin, benadryl(gives me restless legs), and alot of different over the counter products but they barely work and they make me feel groggy the next day, like im not refreshed. How would i go about getting ambien from my doctor. i hear doctors wont give it out as often, but thats what my grandmother said, so im not sure. any help would be great.

i've never taken it, but i've heard of a lot of people getting it prescribed. so i'm guessing if you just tell your doctor you are having trouble sleeping (and mention the otc products you have tried) you'd probably get a script for it.

you might want to have a sleep study done. you also shouldn't take ambien for long periods of time, cause i guess it is habit forming. which obviously would make your current insomnia much much worse.

Yeah ive tried alot of different things. I also lift weights 6 days per week for 2 hours, plus 30 minutes of some cardio in the am. i dont drink coffee. i rarely drink alcohol. i stopped taking pre-workout supplements. i eat healthy meals thorughout the day. I feel tired during the day, but i know if i take a nap, ill never fall asleep, so i keep myself up. But then when 10pm comes around and its time to fall asleep, i suddenly feel more energized and when i lay in bed, theres just a ton of things in my mind, thinking, stressing, etc.

I <3 ambien!

I barely had to inquire about it and my dr gave it to me. But then again she's a little weird, I had to turn down a script for xannies yesterday. No joke.

We have the same problem. I told my doctor that sleeping only 3 hours a night was starting to effect my job performance, my body hurts because lack of sleep, and I was starting to become confused. Right there he wrote me a 10mg for ambien. The downside I noticed was I'm starting to become use to it and sleeping less again. After taking one I won't even fall asleep right away and I can still wake up within 2 hours. I'm like fuck.

It all depends on your doc. Mine gives me scripts with 90 tabs in it.

My recommendation:

1) see a doc and get a sleep study done. If you have had problems since age 16 then something is up.

2) Ambien is great but you can get dependent on it so definitely see a doc and get a script and get checked out.

I have the same problem as you, I get energized at midnight sometimes and then I am up late. I used to use ambien a lot but stopped because I noticed that I had to use it to fall asleep. I go through cycles where I have no problem sleeping then it changes. I have yet to put my finger on what causes it. I still use ambien but only when I have somethign important the next day and I need to sleep. Otherwise I just tough it out.

I feel the same way you do. I can go 2 weeks with good sleep, meaning ill fall asleep within 15-20 minutes of laying in bed, then theres times when i will lay in bed for hours, tossing and turning.
