Please pray for BIG DADDY. My dad, AKA BIG DADDY, was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital by the doctor on staff at his office yesterday morning with chest pains. Apparently, he had some blockage of an artery that had then opened up. Also, his potassium levels were dangerously low. They had mentioned that there was probably some minor damage done to his heart but how much they did not know. As of yesterday, he was feeling ok according to his self report when i talked to him on the phone. he told me not to worry. So I figured he'd be fine.

This morning my mom called me on my way to work to say that the Doctors are now indicating that he DID in fact have a heart attack yesterday. Now I'm upset. Until they said the word Heart attack, I was feeling like everything would be fine. Now I'm worried. Although he is feeling ok, I am still worried because heart attacks are life threatening. He sees the Cardiologist today and is having a echocardiogram to determine what damage has been done to the heart.

Please pray for BIG DADDY. He is my hero.

I'm leaving work right now to go lift. I hope i can concentrate and I hope the damn bar doesnt fall on my face.

I'm going to see him this afternoon. Ill keep you updated.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

thoughts, prayers etc. also people can and do bounce back better than ever, he may need to make a couple of lifestyle changes, but I am sure you will be there for the man, also catch me on AIM anytime if you ever wanna talk smurfy : )

Hope everything turns out ok...I'm sure it will. From what you said, it doesn't sound like a major MI. I'm sure he'll be home in a few days with a beta-blocker and everything will be fine.:)

Thanks to everyone who responded here :) I spent the day with him at the hospital along with about 15 other visitors LOL

He is feeling fine and ready to come home which should be tomorrow if all goes well.

Glad to hear he is doing well! Prayers & thoughts are with you....

It's gonna work out, soul sista. A few years ago my dad flew to DC, got off the plane and said "i don't feel too great", goes to the hospital where the doc says he had a heart attack. He ended up having quintuple bypass surgery. He didn't need all that but they found 5 good veins and said what the heck. That's been 10 yrs and he's still as cranky as ever.

Here I am Dawgy :)

Looks like he MIGHT be coming home today. My biggest concern is how he is feeling, and he says he is feeling fine and ready to come home. Still waiting to hear from the Cardiologist on when he can come home

Well here's hoping he comes home today!!! :)

Thanks you guys :) All the kind words really means alot to me.

Today we went and picked up BIG DADDY from the hospital. Looks like the heart attack was a minor one and only caused minimal damage to the inferior wall of the heart and the damage could actually be reversible.

However, when they did the echocardiogram, they detected what looks like a aneurism and subsequently an aoertic (sp?) valve malfunction. This is totally unrelated to the heart attack and could have gone totally undetected which could have killed him (John Ritter died of an undetected heart aneurism). So, he goes for an MRI to get a better picture of the heart. From that, he may need surgery to repair the valve and aneurism.

So, all in all, looks like this minor heart attack could have actually saved his life LOL
