When you diet I am in week 5 do you get really sore and run down? My body hurts like hell with aches and pains. Last time I competed I did not keep a diary but recall having some problems but this is now and I ache. Normal during contest diet?

Man I feel you on the run down part, I can be on all kinds of thermogenics, get 10 hours of sleep a night and still be tired, do you take CLA and/or Flax Seed Oil or NADH these all help me out a lot...

workout 6 days a week 1 bodypart perday. cardio 4 days a week 20 minutes. abs and calves 4 times a week. diet strict with high protein,moderate carbs some days low carbs, and no fat except naturally occuring. protein intake probably 2.3 per pound of bodyweight sometimes 2.5 times bodyweight. carbd most days at 150 as this is what i cut during my contest diet to get shredded. eat sirloin,chicken, or fish mostly.

I have been on a contest diet for 12 weeks and my show is sat the 23rd. i would add a little flax in there and about every 5th day up your carbs for 1 day to replace glycogen. Depending on your weight, for a 200 lb man that diets on 175-200 grams I would up it to around 500 grams for 1 day then back down. This will also help prevent muscle loss from depletion.

It sounds abit like undernurishment. or overtraining what ever you want to call it.

I don't beleive there is one person this is overtrained that can't fix the problem with upping the calories a bit.Therefore I don't beleive in overtraining.

As you know,you put your body in quite a big shock by precontest dieting and training.even though you have done it before the body still doesnt care.

At week 5 you got a long and harder road to pass.I would look at my overall calories and make adjustments.

If you are undernurished now you will only look worse by week 12. Possibly lose alot of muscle that you worked hard for and end up looking flat and stringy on stage.

Give us an idea of your cheat meals and frequency.And carb cycling.

I read you are only eating fat that is naturally occuring in the foods.Dieting this way I have in the past just been plain tired all day .

You can add MCT oil in the morning and before training at first and have {cycleup fat while cycling down carb days}

This will keep you in more of an anabolic while in a catabolic state.

i beleive that your body is feeling the stresses of the way you chose to diet...where's the FAT?you need energy from fat...why?it is the only source that will not be stored as fat and will create that xtra boost of energy you require...in addition,while getting ripped,the FAT will help you stay FULL at the same time and avoid depletion...concentrate on fatty fish oils(omega 3-6-9) to accomplish this,almonds,coconut oils,olive oil,etc...GOOD LUCK...

PS:The thermogenics have ceased to work for you btw...if you're feeling drowsy and run down,that's a sure way of knowing that the thermogenic product in question has no effect at all at this stage in the game...===fyi

flax seed oil and fatty acids sound great. just started a fat burner today. also i have lost only 2.5 pound in 5 weeks and am looking very full and my size is great so I am consuming proper food amounts. The fat thing makes much sense and it was something I was told last show. carbs for me personally are not the answer but some added fat maybe. i train very heavy even during contest time and this also does not help. actually with the fat burner today i felt better and got some great sleep. thanks for the help.
