What is the point in running a software firewall such as Zone Alarm behind a hardware firewall such as a router? I see no point in this. Only reason I am asking is because I was having a debate with a friend of mine who uses broad band. He has a Linksys router w/ firewall but still uses Zone Alarm on his computer. Seems useless considering my default most tcp/udp ports will automatically be blocked by rhe router.

Most people think the router firewall works by plugging the thing in. They never block any ports or really set it up at all. Lots of fun.

linksys has tons of known vulnerabilities, so does zone alarm. Cisco is the way to go but damn they're expensive.
