Would not advise going since 9-11, if you only want alittle bit of gear, find a domestic source, it is not worth the little bit of money you save to get busted IMO. I have been there 5 times since 9/11, gets riskier each time, so I called it quits. National gaurd is now helping do searches at the border. Plus I have heard of TJ cops screwing with people after buying gear. I am very good at buying gear in TJ, I know the people there, the ways to do it, the times etc, and I still think it is too risky right now, I would not recommend a novice to try IMO.

Do a search and read the few threads about the guys getting busted lately. That may change your mind. One guy got fined $75,000. That wasn't a typo.
