Time to introduce myself

My name is Matt, I'm an out of shape guy who hasnt hit the gym in 3 years...who now by way of a hot new g/f wants to get in shape. So I figured some public humiliation will serve me well.

So far I've cleaned out all of of the crap food out of my house and I'm going shopping tomorrow and I'm hitting the gym. I have no idea what plan I'm going to follow; Ive been researching it for a few hours now though.

This is me and this is my new g/f: (on the right)

There is a huge collection of info on exercise plans...any links to specific information/research for someone who just wants to get jacked? I can be dedicated with my diet but would like to have a nice synthesis with the workout as well.

Welcome.

Working out is all a mindset. The more progress you make (even though it may seem slow at first) the more you will enjoy it.

Also, one key thing I have found that helps me stick with dieting (cutting) is to find or fix yourself good tasting food. Depending on which approach you take to get cut you'll find tons of recipes online to taylor to your taste.

Doing cardio can be fun. For instance I get up 30-40 minutes earlier before work and ride the stationary bike while I watch recorded tv. It may be hard getting out of bed in the morning, but after my cardio I am wide awake and feel great the rest of the day.

Research research research and you will find what you need to be doing/eating. This is a great place to start.

Just remember, you can make it fun....it's all up to you.
 
well you still look pretty good and that is good base to improve on..... but you should not workout just because your with a hot chick, you should workout for yourself. It's sounds like you have a confidence issue to me, bro the hoes will come and go, you will have your body forever.
 
Nah, not a confidence issue, I just know what motivates me to work harder and not quit, and that is a bit of making myself feel like a lazy bum.

Would you believe I met her on the internet? Ya, it's true. Haha one of her roommates is single, the one in the white.

She's actually really academic and she digs that I have 2 degrees and that I'm in law school. I guess she sees potential; I won't argue. :)

Best of luck. Train for yourself, not for someone else. This lifestyle isn't for everyone.
 
Heh, tell me how im supposed to eat 150 g of protein a day. However ive worked out 4 days in a row now. Yay me. I benched 155 today! I have to go buy more tuna and chicken now, i already ran out. I didnt realize this was going to cost money too @@#^#^$#^& lol j/k.

Did you say you were having problems eating 150g's of protein a day? I have had 150g's by 1:00 every day.

I am with Krishna, hook us up with the other two and we will hook you up with the knowledge you need to suceed my man. Krishna what do you like because I will take anything.
 
That is a shitload of protein. And plus ive been crazy sore, i can hardly walk and im sleeping like a cat lately ive been so tired. It is a major body adjustment, so im not used to only have 14 hours in a day to do my eating.

2 cans of tuna a day is 60 g of protein.
I have one big ass shake for 30g.
Two glasses of milk for another 20g.
Dinner has been 2 chicken breasts, the other night i polished off half a roast beef, im figuring this has to be around 40 g of protein.

That's 150...and i cant imagine eating more. Where can i sneak in another 30? Baby steps here of course. Im assuming people are going to say 2 more glasses of milk and another protein shake to get to 200...okay ill try that tomorrow.

Luckily i have room for 4L jugs of milk now that i threw all the crap out.

Ill have to share the new halloween dress up pics after next week, the outfits they are wearing are just heh...they hurt my heart.

Hah i live in Edmonton, i dont know if they would appreciate me handing out their MSN. Actually if they read this thread they'd be pissed lol.
 
You're getting more protein from other foods unless that's all you're eating.
Drink 2 shakes a day with 50 grams of protein in them. There's lots of ways to get more protein. EAT MORE.
 
Other than that ive been eating brown rice, broccoli, mushrooms and asparagus. That's about it.

Not exactly big sources of protein but maybe an extra gram here or there.

Man, 150g's is nothing. 2 scoops of Isopure is gonna be 50.

You have 14 hours a day...so get in seven meals a day in two hour intervals. It's not that hard, just takes a few changes in lifestyle and habits.
 
Eat every two hours? Oh my...Id have to do some major adjusting to my lifestyle to accomodate that. I'm going to stick to 180 g for a couple weeks and see how that suits me.

I think im just going to get a protein powder that is more protein dense too.
