TIME OFF FROM GYM (Your view)

I would like to get some view from people here in regards to time off from the gym – My routine for the past two years has been – Monday – Saturday (workout) Sunday (OFF w/ 1 hour of stretching). I will do this for 4 weeks then take one week off doing nothing but stretching and cardio for an hour a day. Then start the routine over changing up which body parts I work though out the week. I feel like this has provided me w/ maximum recovery time for my whole body on my weeks off.

While on a cycle, would anyone recommend this type of “time off”? Share your time off or comment :artist:

i would do it all the same way as i was before but up the protein and work harder. when you come off up the carbs

may be more beneficial to have a week of lighter days rather than a week off. If the usual workout is 5x5 maybe do 5 x 20 @ 40% 1RM. Or change the exercises from big free weight compound to pumping type exercises on machines. Or do an all body PHA style workout every day.

Between blasts of heavy lifting, I take a week off completely, then lift for a week or two at a little lower intensity (maybe 70% of the weight I was using for my workset), at a little higher volume (2 working sets (straight sets) instead of one heavy rest-paused working set), before beginning my next heavy lifting blast (which usually lasts for 6 weeks). I find it works quite well.

Took the words our of my mouth. I do about the same. !week rest every few weeks. De load and start over.

I am about to start a new 5x5 monday. 15 weeks on this one.

I take a week off when my body tells me to, I don't plan it. Sometimes during this week I will do very light high rep work but most of the time I take the week off completely, sometimes two weeks depending on how hard I have been going for how long.
