Thank god I don't work in Dallas any more. Remember a couple of years ago when we got that really bad ice storm.

It took me 4 fuckin hours to get home.

I just drove into work here in Dallas. My 30 minute commute took me about an hour, and I didn't break 40mph at any point. If I wasn't contracting I would've been like, mmmkay not comin in tonight.

It's really not that bad though. It'd be one thing if it rained and then froze over, but it's really just a bunch of sleet pellets all over the road. I've driven through much worse. But Dallas will of course shut down in every way possible because that's what we do when anything other than rain or hail falls from the sky.

You live there.. you are used to the weather.. this is RARE ASS weather for texas... it rarely (rarely like ever 3-5 years) snows.. and when it does.. it doesnt stick... like people here don't already drive bad enough.

What sucks is that it's these roads are going to be frozen for at least another full day. It's not supposed to get above freezing until Wednesday afternoon. The roads aren't that bad right now because the snow isn't all packed down, but once rush hour starts it's going to suck. I think I'm going to hit the gym on the way home before I go to sleep so that I don't have to deal with it tomorrow afternoon. Bleh. Wah

the street outside is still iced up and my driveway which is also very steep has 1/4 - 1/3 inch of ice. I beat on it for a while, but gave up on clearing it out at least until the sun is up...

took me 2 hours to get home last night , normally takes 15 minutes. us Texans dont handle ice very well. Sunday it was 78 and then yesterday and today is is 25. that is a huge difference. Crazy!!

It swings in the high 30s ( degrees C ) here in the summer time. I would trade you climates anyday.

On the plus side, it sure has made those bitching about "global warming" shut the fuck up for awhile. Maybe this (and subsequent) winters will be the final nails needed to seal the myth of global warming's coffin!

On the other hand, they can always fudge the figures. In 1996, Elkins WV set an all-time record for snowfall. To prevent a recurrence of this "inconsistent with global warming" statistic, the weather service immediately discontinued collecting snowfall data for Elkins so the record could never be broken again -- which it could this winter.
