I manage our 5 websites. I make sure the content is up to date, the design is current, the data is accurate (I manage other people to input the data), and that programming works (i manage our programmer- i don't do that stuff myself).

which means that if we make changes to one of the sites, I run through it to make sure it works right. If i search for something, it should return an accurate search. if i log in, it should log me in, etc.

So WHEN I'M SHOPPING FOR RIDING BOOTS DURING A BREAK, I SEARCH FOR SIZE 10s AND GET RESULTS THAT ARE ALL SIZE 6!!!!!!!??!!!

FUCKING IDIOTS.

data base relational ship connection problem.. or the inventory input was wrong..

not the programmers issue, the output is only as good as that $10 hr temp you guys hired, or the cvs data might have been wrong..

so... pay someone to do quality control... as a manager it is your responsibility to manage people.. not to see if their output is correct or not..

I might be wrong, but seems to me you are micro managing, quality control is middle management, not corp management..

otherwise.. get a raise..

ahhh.. so you are conducting quality control on a vendors site, who only inputs the cvs file or worse yet, simply allows the supplier to input the information remotely..

well, yes. but by 'vendor sites' you mean, "stilleto is doing some online shopping".

people are not as diligent about the accuracy of their sites as i am.
 
btw, we sell computers.
i was just shopping for boots.

I was trying to drop some light on the process..

example, you manu the shipped finished product?? yes

but you get your parts from somewhere, they send a parts list shipped, that list is imported into an inventory control program

and orders are taken in a custom computer build, if a part says it is in stock, the the order is accepted (assumed)

but in fact the part may not be in your warehouse...

goes back to the weak point.. info in.. info out..

and sticky fingers with the warehouse folks.. i mean they need computers too ya know.. and ebay is a great place to dump those..

we REmanufacture. (refurbish)
i know what you're talking about though with csv files. we don't have a sticky finger problem in our place, but i can see how other manufacturers would.
some of our distributors and resellers have had issues.

They're metric sizes. 10 metric = size 6.214.

well they didn't have size 10s.
grrrr.

but i did find some really great boots. I decided to get mens, so i just have to figure out what size I am.

They aren't typically civilian computers- mostly used for field work. either public safety, insurance claims, field service, etc.

it's an 8 pound brick, but if you're rough with your computer, it will still last forever.

I go to panasonic headquarters a lot, so i take it with me there.
