Thanks to some help from daveTSI in the powerlifting form i smashed the barrier i had on my DL for a few months. I was stuck at 520 and through this EF members advice, i pulled 530 today AND i lost about 6lbs since i pulled the 520.

I do rack pulls sometimes where are from about knee cap height with higher weight. Best high pull i had was 1200 on a combined axel deadlift in my last comp.
 
Nah thats a chick i train with. :) GF always has an excuse not to be able to go to the gym with me although she claims she runs on the tread mill every day. :rolleyes:

and while this is good advice and will help to train the CNS to handle heavier loads, it doesnt really apply to Big BK. Watch the video again, once he breaks his knees he SMOKES it. Doing high partials is great, but BK's problem is getting the weight started. The following applies to anyone who watches this video and has similar form, meaning tough off the floor, legs straighten out too early and the lift turns into a straight legged deadlift. HIPS HIPS HIPS, the three best things one can do to strengthen hips IMO is 1. low box squats 2. Sumo deadlift 3. ATF Squats (preferably wide stance). Strong hips allow you to stay low, meaning your ass stays low and your legs dont straighten right away. You should feel like you are squeezing the weight off the floor with your hips rather than trying to stand up with it.

i have to do the same thing bc i am tall. when i come off the floor my legs have to st8en fairly quickly so i can get it past my knees and then i end up with a stiff legged.
 
great job but becareful of your form...wouldn't want to see you get hurt and be laid up. GREAT JOB tho..

wish I could do that...I'm jealous...some day I'll get there ...some day..
 
Nice lift,

Looking at the lift , I think you should have tilted your head up a little higher, chest out and back from leaning forward ( almost as a gorilla looks ) ,as the weight came above the knees allowed the weight to swing (move naturally to the center of gravity) in closer to the body , almost scraping the quads as you used you're quads and ass to thrust up and the hips forward while the shoulders came backeven further
Plus a little wider foot stance (toes pointed out more but not sumo stance ) prob would have helped some.

I just think the back was a little to rounded man , I do not want to see you get hurt , I fucked up my back for 4 weeks by slipping on my form a few years back ,dont want to see you limping around like i did for a month it sucked ass.


But everyone does the dead's different.
My deadlift is almost like a dead untill the knees then kinda turns into a low row then shifts into a pelvic thrust.

I have seen so many diff techniques basically the same but still slight variations in hands,feet,and body movement

my form gets like that when I get up to heavy weight. I think I should take the advice and start switching to sumo deads for a couple of weeks.
 
Yeah i've been using them on max out's but i ran out and need to get more. Guess hips need some work. BTW lilj thats one of the top deadlifters in the world. That warm up was 860lbs.
 
A family member of mine works in the ER and I went in to see them and was like what are in these vials/boxes? They told me that its for "waking" people up who "fake" feignt or think they are going to feign, How does it help you out? Interesting..
 
It just clears your mind and i think i read that the amonia irritates your lungs so it makes them work faster and take in more air.
 
The first time is a bit of a shock but once you know what your getting yourself into it's a good boost for a max effort lift.
 
I dont, I would have to see the science behind that to see if it was anything more than mental.. I smelled amonia packs before, very unpleasent.
 
ammonia packets irratate the lung and the nose which opens them up more for more air, and with more air comes better focus, concentration and more oxygen to blood cells.

and btw i never smelled one and that dude in the video i posted is a beast its just funny how he goes crazy after he smells it
 
lol, it doesnt do that to you when you smell it, thats just him getting psyched up for the lift.
 
my buddy brings a bottle (20 oz. water bottle) with a towel soaked in ammonia to the gym when he does deads and squats. i hate huffing that shit.
 
benni is fucking hilarious, i love his little routine before he pulls.
