This is it, I give up on willpower

Yes you heard me,

The concept of Self Control is a complete joke, it is impossible, and goes contrary to every bit of my nature.

These last few nights I've been up til 4 or 5 in the morning, I havent been to the gym in a week (and when I go I only do cardio), I find it impossible to eat clean on a daily basis, I must either have some fast food or some delicious desert at some place. I havent lifted in over a year. when I do go to the gym, its to do cardio, and it occurs about once a week or less.

I want to be healthier and have a six pack, and ripped muscles and shiz, but you know what? Frankly I have no motivation to do it. So I guess in the mean time I will settle with my 16% BF fatass, and slowly day-by-day depleting muscles. And I'm pale as a white sheet of paper. darn tanning salons are too much work to go to.

I think I'm just going to accept the fact that I have no discipline and try to make the best of it.

This won't help you on your quest to find a wholesome girl to cuddle with, or whatever you want to do with a girl.

Don't give up! It's a long and hard road, but it's worth it.

hmmm.. maybe I'll just settle for a fattie

whats the point in continuing to try if what I've been doing so far hasnt been making me succeed?

that's the spirit!
I dont mean to be a pessimist, but past experience has shown that discipline is not a skill that I am very good at mastering. or at least not in recent times.
I used to care about my health more and try hard to stay fit, but then it just became harder and harder to continue everyday, until I got to the point where I just stopped doing it.

EDIT:
Maybe I should stop blaming the fat people for being fat, and just accept that it is all a consequence from the unhealthy food which is everywhere in our society, and the lack of a need to exercise to get by day to day (cars, etc).

.

How can you even make this statement when in your own post you have admitted to NOT trying at all for a while.

Willpower is overhyped bullshit by and large. You have to change your innermost motivations and perspectives rather than just use surface denial if you want lasting change IMO.

Drugs help too.

Umm what do you think willpower is if not your innermost motivations and perspectives...

Thats not what willpower is. Willpower is an attempt to thwart your innermost motivations through negative reinforcement. That is why it usually fails.

Giving up is a great way to reach your goals.

well tell me. what am i supposed to do? waste more time on the silly goal of getting a better body when I know I'm going to fail?

I'd be better off spending the time doing something more productive, like finding hobbies, or asking girls out, etc. instead of working out and then only to eat a whole box of sugary cereal later that day.

I guess I just think there is more to life than having the best body, and if I spend much of my time focusing and worrying on that, I'll miss out on many other good things. Just because I cant get the body I want, doesnt mean I should throw the entire rest of my life away just trying to get that body.

PS: and ppl, when I say I've tried stuff recently, I mean like I've tried eating a healthy diet (cuz thats the most important, right?) and I've tried doing cardio routinely. Yea, i'll admit, i havent tried lifting in awhile.

The problem is that I seriously don't think I can change my innermost motivations, I mean really how does one do that? If you love to read books for example, you cant just change that and make it so that you don't love to read books, can you? I mean you can pretend you don't, but you'll always still love to read books.

It just doesnt seem like we have that much control over our wants.
For example: my body wants to be lazy and eat junk food, but "I" (my conscious mind) doesnt want that. Maybe my conscious mind is struggling to accept my unconscious desires.

now can your conscious mind change your unconscious desires? that is the question.

Yeah it can within reason.

that guy said his 180+ lb weight loss came from changing his views on himself, food and exercise. He realized the results of the old life weren't very good and the goals of the new life were worthwhile. Whenever an issue of food or exercise came up he thought about which had teh best long term goals for him, and it changed his motives, actions and desires.

His situation doesn't apply to you though. You seem young, and 16% bf is not fat (except by elite standards. But elite is harder on people than Cosmo when it comes to body image distortions).

There is probably a diet somewhere that lets you go from 16% to 9% if you can find it. But even when you get to 9% it won't change your life any, you'll still be the same person. People overhype being beautiful.

There are benefits to both lifestyles. The healthy life has benefits and the unhealthy life has benefits. You have to find a balance between the benefits of the two, just following one or the other will lead you to feeling deprived.

Also, start reading books about the power of suggestion. "the power of your subconscious mind' is a staple of this subject. It sounds kooky and fake but in my experience the info seems to work.

As far as your example on books, its hard to say what changes could occur. But i think a person could decrease their desire over time. Wouldn't happen overnight but over time it could happen.

I look at it this way.

You have an angle sitting on one side of your shoulder and the other side
you have the devil.

There are days that one talks me into something and the other talks me into something else.
You will have struggles throughout your life! It all depends on what's more important to you.

 :goatslaye

Ok who wins today?
