bob paris was in the closet for along time. he had a awsome body that could have been propelled into higher ranks had he keep his mouth shut and kept the closetdoor shut and just played joe wieders game.
bob paris wrote a book about his life as a gay bodybuilder ,pioneer of gay civil rights and equalism it was hit in the gay community but the mainstream did not except it joe wieder hexed paris with the curse of the " gayman" as soon a paris came out he never placed high in any contest and often was placed last he was fustrated and forced to retire early .

I think paris scared alot of main stream public into thinking "hey they must all be homos" or atleast thats what joe weider feared what would happen.

Imagine after paris came out if he made it all the way to olyimpic contest in the late 80's all the fags that would come to the shows to cheer him on and after he won he would be carried in the air at gay pride parades then show up to other contest with his boyfriend.then go on tv as mr olyimpia and promote gay sex and marriage . I think it was just to much for joe weider to deal with and saw a bad vision of the future so he just crushed it before in got a chance to start.

about that last part who knows what or where he is at now actually i dont think any one cares .Not becuase he was or is gay but the fact is he is prob in his late 50's or close to 60 and thats just what happens after about 20 yrs go by the guys from the 80's seem to just disappear .from all of the 100's of toped ranked guys from 1981 to 1989 most dont even lift anymore

I can not imagine the effect of a figure like him in todays bodybilding sinde there is more tolerance towards the gay comunity right now. anyway, he was a pioneer.

Paris and his boyfriend Rod, yeah his name was Rod, came to our college back in the early 90s to give a talk about being gay. Never did hear much about him after those years.

I remember some of his books. I actually liked them. The first one was Beyond Built,then Flawless.

His boyfreind name was Rod Jackson. I saw something one night like on Jay Leno when he pokes fun at stuff, he showed Bob and Rod when they got married.The pictures were of them driving off in a Jeep. And when they got a divorce?? Sad faces.

I never knew about that when I was reading his books. But I did ask Lee Labrada about him just breifly one day in Houston and he said the guy was very good bodybuilder.

I just thought I would post this because it brought back some old memories.
