As we have all heard they say that you inherit MPD from the mother’s side. MPB is all about the DHT levels. If your hair has always been thin is it because of DHT levels? One wouldn't think so because your hair has always been thin. Although it may not be due to MPB per say, because your not genetically predisposed to MPB, but since you have reported your hair has started thinning recently it could be DHT related. Stress, diet, certain "supplements" OTC or otherwise, (environmental) exposure to various things, are all factors. As I'm sure you know all the avacores and rogains are DHT inhibitors as well as Propecia. These could be a routes to take to see if they may help with the hair regrowth. In my humble opinion you might consider a type of scalp cleanser and try a thickening shampoo such as the Suave, or Loreal for men (cheap and OTC). Oh there is also brand of shampoo and conditioner that is excellent, esp. the conditioner; it's called "Mane-n-Tail" if I remember correctly. I think it was originally used for horses, thus the name lol. Most Wal-Mart's should carry it. Those are all a good place to start, in my opinion, and definitely much cheaper than the "DHT inhibitors" prescription or not. First you need to verify if it's DHT related or genetic. Sounds like DHT, off hand, due to the fact that it's thinning lately. Would have to know more information regarding your diet, supplements, and otherwise. Hope this rambling helped a little.
