thinking of getting a bike

just recently pulled out of a 150k townhome deal, cause my new x-girlfriend decided she isn't ready for a serious relationship. well, all of a sudden the money i've been saving for the past 6 months is looking like a nice fast toy. currently i am debating on getting one of the honda 600rr's . i'd like to get something fun to drive around. i was debating on trading the '03 toyota mr2 in on a new lotus elise. but 2 toys look like more fun than 1. what would you guys suggest? bike's are a LOT of fun.

get a bike but go bigger than a 600. USED viper under 30k and sooo fuckin fast, my buddy had one fuck that car was the SHIT he had a 95rt/10

save your money and buy a house jerk face.

Screw the house get the bike. Live life now that you are young you can die in a house later in life but you can't ride then.

Well it is better than dieing slow. :D

I wonder if I should get a litre bike. The 750 is fast but I would like to do third gear wheelies and it just won't do that.

litre bikes are a total waste imo.... take alook at this months latest sport rider magaizne....shows times of 1000s and 600s in lap times (pro drivers) and guess what the litres aint much faster plus with a litre when can u ever use the extra power anyways? u gsxR is fast enough plus a litre wont handle as well

handling and cornering is where it is AT!

What about stunting? I was going to keep my 750 for the twisties, I am just going to use the 1000 for freeway wheelies. They only weight like 15lbs more than the 750s right?

get a vette

zo6 = 50K with insurance and other shit $$$$$$$$$

2001 zx6r = 4500 bones + 1000 of flash and dash awsome bang for buck value

ive drving an NSX hard on the freeway ( i know it isnt a zo6 but awsome sports car still) and no car is even a superbike

i remmeber reading once that a older zx11s could go to 0-100 and back to 0 before a ferrari 360 could even hit 80 mph

but sports cars are really badass

The newer 600s are NOT for people who are new to street riding. If you must get a 600 get something older. Better yet, get a 'naked' bike. When you lay one of those on its side it won't cost you as much to repair it. And yes, you will lay it down.

yep totally asgreee

best beganer bike is a katana can of tuna special.... plus chances are u are going to drop your brand new 600 too..

Well after riding for years i would strongly disagree with Tiger on his bike choices. I would only recommend going for a 1000cc bike and skip the smaller ones, in the past there was a huge difference in weight and handling in a 1000 vs a 600. Today the difference is blurred their times are very similar, but that's with pro riders on the track. With normal riders on the street, the 1000cc bike will be easier to ride, with more torque and HP at lower RPM. Both the liter and 600cc bikes are fast enough to kill you so take one that fits you right and respect it until you get used to it and you will be able to grow into the bike, as opposed to outgrowing it.

PS.

I started man handling my 600 after just 2 weeks. It was so small and light i treated it more like a toy for joy riding, that's when trouble happens and it did for me. I upgraded to a CBR 1100XX and love it to shit. Never lost the respect the bike DEMANDS from it's rider and that IMO is what keeps you safe.

Bikes are dangerous. they really are

several times more dangerous than cars.

Getting out of bed and walking to get the newspaper is more dangerous then staying in bed. So why risk it...

you might think im crazy but when i had my cbr929 going 290km on a bike and 290 in my vette i felt more secure on a bike.

290 km on your 929? That's what, like 175 mph? I was not aware that this bike can go that fast. It has to be modified or your speedo is way off. My CBR 1100 xx hits about 300 km/h and i know what you mean. I hit about 170mph on it and it did feel pretty stable and safe. Gotta tell you though, WHAT A RUSH!!!! It's an experience unlike any other.
