basically if im enlisting its gonna be to serve my country and kill some afghanies. Which branch would be best for me to do this. Also i dont have perfect vision is this gonna be an issue? I think 17 is to young for corrective eye surgery to.... So what are the major differences between each branch also.

ya but then wouldnt i wind up like a mechanic or something? You need perfect vision to become a pilot....

trying to decide? well the army now teaches BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU as their official form of hand to hand combat! they started two yrs ago...that means unarmed, you can kill ANYONE

I'm actually looking to do the same now. I like the Navy so far. They are pretty much like the airforce but you get to apply for any job you want that you qualify for. Where as in the AF you pick five and you are guranteed one but it could be anyone of the five it is not necessarily the one you want the most. PLus both pay better and have better benefits (other than killing people in hand to hand).

Only in the Marines or Army will you get an opportunity to be involved in a Ground Invasion. In the Marines, however, it is just about a certainty as they can be brought in by land, sea, or air.

As an Airman or a Sailor, you'll most likely be a long ways away from any action.

its definetly between the marines and the army for me. I wanna be a soldier. If i could be a pilot i'd do it but i cant =(.

well, first you'll have to be an officer to be a pilot anyway, so if that's all you want to do than cancel out the airforce. navy, you'll be put on a boat far from any front line action. army, mostly all ground. marines, as someone already said, can come from air, land, or sea. marine corps boot camp is harder than any other branch, so if you like being challenged to the fullest you might want to think about the marines. also, from my observations, marines have so much pride that they are marines. i'm leaving for the corps on monday and i'm fuckin ready.

honestly bro at this point, join any branch. As long as you serve, you're OK with me. Competition between branches is dumb. All branches serve a specific purpose. Navy is for support by sea, Marines is for amphibious operations and naval security, air force for support by air, and army for ground war. We all have our roles

that's true kurtz, but i was just telling him the differences between the branches. we're all on the same side. i almost beat the shit out of a guy that was talking shit to me tonight. this scrawney basterd about 6'0 130 pounds was sitting there saying that marines aren't shit and how they're not hard core. all i could think about is that i can't do shit cause i'll get an assault charge then i can't go to the corps. once i get back from basic though, i'll fuckin beat his ass like he's never had before.

The marines would be best, you get the most training in the marine field, so when you do go into war, which will be a mathematical certainty, your chances of survival will be much higher.
