Things to do in Maui

Ok so I'm going to Maui next week, I've never been to Hawaii before and am all sorts of excited. If you've been, what were the things you enjoyed most? Snorkeling is a must, I did that in Mexico once and it was a blast. This is a trip with me and my girlfriend so keep that in mind when offering suggestions.

Tours? Volcano? Cruise?

Oh, I'm so jealous. I've never been, and I would love to go someday. Take lots of pics and show us when you get back.

I recommend the beach sex tour.

Maui is great fun, tons to do and beautiful.

Is an option and would be a great surprize for your girlfriend.

I have been thinking about going to finish my instrument rating while on vacation. In friggin' Hawaii. Some actual instrument time without icing up!

I am sure they have some tours available since you probably don't want nor need your license. Great way to see Hawaii.

Another option...

If you have never been in a helicopter, go.

maui kayaks has a great kayak/snorkeling tour.

eat at the Lahaina Fish Company, dinners were great!

go next door afterwards to Kimo's and get a slice of Hula Pie....you have to!

you gotta eat at Mama's fish house also......sooooo good, great atmosphere. go there before sunset to see their own beach.

The Road to Hana is...meh(cause I turned around 10 minutes too soon...doh!). beautiful but long drive. if you do drive it...go all the way to the end which means past Hana to the blowholes and 3 waterfalls. if you are renting a car, make sure its a jeep, driving around you can get into all kinds of places popping that bad boy into 4x4.

There is a great winery there that makes pineapple wine, but you can get it at Costplus world market, so you can skip that if you want.

Definitely get up early and walk the beaches. there are tons of them, obviously.

get ready to drive slow. the island moves slowly. its the way out there.

go check out a volcano.
and......if i'm not mistaken, isn't hawaii where that haunted fucking forrest is? where rocks and shit fly at you out of nowhere? it was some startling shit i saw on the travel channel. the place is cursed....

The road to Hana is a nice trip, but it's all day and if you're anything like me - would rather get someplace than travel to it - then it may get frustrating for you.

They have tours where you can get driven up the Volcano at like 2:30am, watch the sun rise and then bike all the way down to the beach. The biking part takes awhile but you never peddle. That was fun and your done by 9am or something like that.

Oh - and check out "Little Beach" - it's right next to "Big Beach" but it's a nude beach. If you hit "Little Beach" on a Sunday late afternoon, there is music and craziness from all the local nude hippies. Good times!

Wowee.... what else? Also fun throwing water over your balcony on people walking around down on the street. They put their hands up like it is raining and you and your chic will just laugh and laugh. . Try to wahoo some pinaples in a rent a car those locals get pissed and they will try to chase in these big ol trucks with machettes but they can't catch ya unless you run out of gas so make sure you fill up first. All these things we did were alot funner because of the "wowee" of course.

Prince Maui Resort or Maui Prince Resort something like that
cool. we stay over in Kaanapali at the Westin when we get a chance. It is been a few years though....kids tend to do that!

Suggestions:

Snorkling: Molokini
Morning trip: Haleakala (you can do an early morning bike trip down too)
Day trip: Lahaina (do dinner there too)
Afternoon trip: Kaanapali (beaches, resorts, dinner at Leilanis at sunset)
Overnight or long day; Hana (waterfalls and black sand beaches)

Get set up for the traditional Luau too and there is always the helecopter half day deal too.

Hope that helps. I envy you.

A few Restaurants I enjoyed:

Kimos - in Lahaina
Jameson's - in Kapalua (by the golf course)
The Feast at Lele - also in Lahaina was awesome - oh and free drinks. :)
