Thick bar/Applon's Axle question

Is there a set bar thickness for an Appolon's Axle set up? Or do contests select thickness?

Mainly 2" outer diameter. My thick bar is a piece of 1.95 OD Schedule 80 pipe...works great.

Most pro shows use either 2 3/8 or 3".

Thanks B. With that in mind, I think I will make mine 2 3/8" diameter. I will be able to easily change the diameter with the set up I am making. With my small hands, I don't think I could get a 3" bar anywhere.

Does the weight vary by contest as well?



Louden> I am going to be using a bar I had custom made for me, place the desired thickness pipe around the outside and tighten with screws. Viola! A non-rotating, adjustable thickness thick bar.
But I think you can check savage yards or contact a machine shop and tell them what you want. Any good machine shop should be able to hook you up and/or point you in the rigfht direction.

There is a HUGE difference in what you can use on a 2" bar and what you can use on a 2 3/8" bar. Near 100 pounds difference for me...

here the price for 8ft piece of schedule 80 pipe is 20bucks at a place here that sells steel and does welding jobs. shouldtn be much different there
