The weirdest thing.....

I have kind of a strange situation here. Well through out my life, ive always had anxiety problems and bouts with depression. Ive been trying to deal with these things forever. Ive tried everything from Prozac,St. John;s Wort, 5htp, Inositol,ECA stack, smoking weed, Valium, even Biotests Power Drive( a mixture of ingredients that are supposed to help you relax) But heres the strange thing: whenever I take any of these things in hopes of helping my anxieties and depression to relax my anxieties....Ialways end up retaining alot of water!! It doesnt matter if its St john's wort or Inositol or Valium that im taking or even Smoking some weed...I always end up retaining alot of water especially around the face. Usually ill pee 5 to 7 times a day but when on any of these...ill only gon once or twice no matter how much i drink. Being that i have wide cheekbones...this makes my face look really fat. Also i become real smooth right away and none of my muscles protrude. Now ive pondered this forever and i havent been able to find the answer. I thought that maybe its something that my body is rejecting or an electrolyte or ph levels inbalance or complication of some kind. Ive never even asked this before on any other boards for fear that they wouldnt know the answer...but seeing how this board stands out from the rest in sheer knowledge...ill give it a shot. so what do u bros think???why does this happen to me. What should i do??? Can u all please help me out??

P.S: O h yea and i also limit my sodium levels for the same reason...so thats not it.

hey buddy, youre not alone with the anxiety and depression, i hear ya man. ive tried just about everything i could get my hands on, nothing ever really works. i cant help ya with the water retention. that never really happened to me while taking inositol or 5htp or any of those. im not sure what it could be.

I have anxiety problem occaisionally. I sometimes take valiums for sleep,
however, I've never experienced water retention. My best personal advice
I can give is to quit taking that stuff all together. Taking meds to control anxiety
/depression has a rebound effect, meaning once you go off the stuff, your
anxiety/depression comes back. I've found that just training and eating
right and living a healthy lifestyle gets rid of my depression/anxiety.
Try doing that for a while.

max you are so right.....i am in the process of maintaining a healthy lifetstyle and I feel that it is the only natural way to overcome these issues. I am not saying it works for everyone but it sure does for me.:D

That's a tough one to answer as I don't think it's a typical side-effect (I could be mistaken). Maybe something is going on on the receptor/hormone level. For instance, the drugs you take could maybe stimulate the osmoreceptors to send the signal to the hypothalamus to release Anti-Diurertic Hormone (or vasopressin). I dunno, something like that could cause your problem though I've no idea why. Maybe the drugs have a direct effect on the hypothalamus that ends in the same thing - vasopressin secretion. Sorry I can't be of more help.

thanx for all the kind words kids....i really appreciate it. Anyone else have sny experience or knowledge on why this may be happenin to me....macro....andy....gary...u all care to chime in...id really appreciate it. thanx to everyone in advance...

You mentioned smoking some weed twice. Do you smoke daily? Some will say that THC increases estrogen in the system which could account for water retention.
Just my thought.

there are too many things that could be happening.....we would need to know your age and history. Some lab work would also help. You might have other things going on. If your kidneys arent working well it might be the issue...but its usually fluid retention in the legs, not the face only. Are you allergic to anything?

BTW, Nathan....ADH and vasopressin are the same thing.

That's what I said. Sorry for the lack of clarity - by "or vasopressin", I meant "also called vasopressin". Do you think there's a possibility that something along the lines I suggested could be the culprit? I've no idea why that would be the case but it would give the results he's describing and it was all I could come up with.

you know this may sound real freaky but up until last year i was unstable ass dynamite could getr depressed for days at a time drank a goog bit and took other pharma drugs then i stopped to start training in between juice cycles i still get like that but not as bad when i am on though i feel like a million dollars i heard people say that juicin makes them depressed but just the opposit for me
keeping fit has kept my head straight and more in focus when i am on juice if anyone has a comment on that let me know it may be a cure you know they give hyper kids uppers to calm them down

Well I take St. John's wort and I do pee all the time, maybe that is why, I hadn't considered that before.

It works great for anxiety, along with lots of exercise. Exercise may be the best therapy available.

I don't know about the water retention but I wish you luck.
