having gone to a party school in cali (chico state) i saw firsthand what alcohol can do to a student. where is the outcry for alcohol being the cause of societies ills? you either are an addict or you are not.

seems awfully convenient that one can hide behind a prescription for the joose, drink on occasion and at the same time look down on the reefer heads and say its all your fault, marijuana = devil.
Alcohol has been proven to be destructive, not only to the individual using it, but others. I am not for aboloshing it though, we as a society wanted it, and we all share the collective risk for it.

With weed, its not as widely used, so it doesn't get the support of the full population. So, the minority, the users, try harder to convince the non users that it is really harmless. I'm not saying its a benign drug, of course it isn't, but I don't think the cons outweigh the pros of it.

both have the potential to be equally dangerous... and maybe being raised in cali i see things differently than the rest of the country. i just feel like the hypocrisy is overwhelming...

I think one of them is more "dangerous" than the other in most ways, and its not tough to figure out which one.

in my book alcohol obviously is worse . i just wanted to acknowledge like you that the reefer isn't benign. been around way too many alcoholics. drunk driving health issues, etc.

Mrplunkey, I suggest you look into the facts and stop relying on proapganda so much.

Yeah, that NIH website is soooo full of propaganda. If only we had a more reliable source about pot. Oh look! A stoner book! I bet that will have all the answers!

The more you smoke the higher your chances of quitting or missing-out on an education. That is game, set and match for me. I don't care if some people can leave normal and productive lives -- some people can do that with cocaine as well.

As long as there are downtrodden to be paid for and people clammering for the producers to do the paying, I'll be all about stopping marijuana.

This election cycle has been enlightening to me (no kidding). All I've heard is how this group or that group can "pay a little bit more" to right all these economic and social injustices. I've leaned libertarian my entire adult life (approx 22ish years) so the notion of forcing one group to subsidize the other disgusts me. But when people are paying the bills for these downtrodden, now I'm starting to believe that those bill-payers should deserve a larger say in how those being paid-for live. Its like buying the homeless bum on the corner a hamburger. Sure he'd prefer cash so he can go buy some Mad Dog 20/20 but its my money -- so he's getting a hamburger instead.

Yes, that's good logic. Using that logic we shouldn't prosecute rapists because there are murderers out there.

Yes, being under a physician's care for years, getting blood draws every six weeks and receiving prescriptions for drugs based directly on the results of those blood draws is "hiding". Know what ticks me off as well? Those damn cancer patients who hide behind their doctors for chemotherapy drugs too!

what are you talking about? weed shouldnt be illegal neither should alcohol. that might be the most ridiculous comparison ive heard to date. i dont like my tax dollars going anywhere. i dont like supporting other people. stop taking the high road. you are a jooser and im sure you drink occasionally. i dont care that you are old and your doctor says you need it. my doctor tells me i can have pot. and with that comes the possibility of abuse as does joose and alcohol. alcohol is worse than reefer. hypocrite! you have no right to tell me what i put in my body. as i have none to tell you what to put in yours.

you dont like subsidizing peoples income. then get involved in politics and make a difference. your issue isnt with weed its with freeloaders. stop confusing the two.

you just compared your ego-centric joosing with cancer patients: new low

You're right. All testosterone replacement therapy is "ego-centric". If the medical community would just consult with you before establishing standards of care, mistakes like this wouldn't happen.

But you know, I can't help but get the feeling they're not going to call you anytime soon...
