the State of the Union address is fun to watch

Given tensions between regional and national government in China, as well as gigantic disparities between the city employees and more rural people, it's probably safe to say that China will go the route of the USSR in our lieftimes.

Also interesting is the fact that the Taiwanese are huge investors in mainland China.

China will be "#1" when Ethiopian tropps overrun washington.

Ya heard it here first. China will break up.

As to the State of the Union....too much big brother in that speech.

Parts yes, the whole now! The historic China will continue on as always in the near centuries future!

I agree with you on the Pelosi part, but I actually thought Daschle spoke pretty well on a key issue the dems should use in the campaign: Jobs.

With the immigration policy that he outlined (I didn't see a ton of applause for that one even from rebuplicans), and the loss of jobs that Daschle highlighted, Bush has angered rebuplicans in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California, and left open an attack point for democrats.

I think he is banking that numbers continue to show positive signs, and the growth in the manufacturing sections continue. However, looking at the job losses the tax cuts have not been successful in creating jobs, and companies continue to outsource for cheap labor in other parts of the world.

How long can the economy sustain this recovery without jobs? Household savings are at an all time low, and household debt is at an all time high. Eventually, unless jobs are there, people won't be able to continue to spend and support the economy.

Plus health insurance premiums continue to increase making it less affordable for families.

I thought the speech was effective, but there are significant vulerabilities that the dems should target. I was also suprised that there wasn't a strong pro-life message in the speech.

This is a thoughtful post. I am impressed that you sat through both the state of the union and the democratic response.

You're right, there is plenty of ammunition there for democrats, if they are smart about their strategy.

Although the economy is growing, jobs are lagging. Bush and the GOP have got to demonstrate that they are taking steps to fix this. I think they are.

See my triangulation thread for a response reference the sunbelt states and immigration.

Because there are so many workers, these few people will get even richer. The disparity from rich to poor will be great, and the poor will number in the hundreds of millions. If that doesn't signal breakup, I don't know what does!?
Sounds like the average country...with more people.... to me.
