The Prodigal Child returns.....

I have come back with my tail between my legs...

I was wondering if anyone out there could help me on a home workout schedule. I lost my job (where I was working out) so a gym membership is out of the question right now. I have SOME freeweights (dumbells) resist a bands, treadmill and eliptical machine at home. Can anyone give me some workout ideas? How about some diet tips? Even though I'm a retired ( and I do mean retired) competitor, I would consider myself a beginner right now because I have "slacked-off" for too long. I'm reaching out for support so I hope someone out there will throw me a line! I'm taking the State Police test soon (written) and have a good chance of being accepted into the academy. I need to get in shape. Plus i miss my old self!!

Thanks to anyone that wants to take a chance at helping me!

Just a curiosity question: what brand of eliptical trainer do you have? I am looking at buying one for my home as my gym does not have one:( and I need a change in cardio training.

I have a Stamina 1720 I got off of ebay which ended up being the same one that Walmart sells. It's not as nice as a gym quality (obviously) but I'm on a limited budget and for the price I think it's a decent machine to supplement my cardio training. i've seen some really nice ones on ebay but you are going to spend a lot more the better they are. All-in-all I'm satisfied with it.

Thanks for the info! I will check them out as I am on a pretty tight budget myself. If I had the money I would go with Precor but they are way out of my price range right now.
