It's fucked up. During Hurricane Rita there were 36 tornados created from the sustained wind in my county alone, and they did far more damage than the actual hurricane.
We sat on the patio and watched them destroy the pine groves across the pasture. 60 foot trees ripped from their roots and thrown around like toothpicks.
One came very close to the house and we went inside and you could feel the barometric pressure tank out and our ears started popping, then the walls started flexing in and out. Thank God it passed, because the next step is supposedly total destruction, your house almost explodes.
Sounds like a freight train. Scared the shit out of my Korean War Veteran, two time Purple Heart recipient, tortured POW grandpa who doesn't give a fuck about anything. That's probably what shook us the most was seeing him like that.
I can't imagine one a fucking mile wide. That's insane
