About 19 years ago a marraige councelor told me there were 5 roles a wife could play in her husband's life:

Lion Tamer (to sooth his inner beast)
Best Friend
Lover
Mother (to her husband, not his children)
Housekeeper

And that I should give some thought to which of those were important to me.

So I decided I'd rate them all for me personally on a scale of 1-10:

Lover: 10
Best Friend: 9
Housekeeper: 5
Lion Tamer: 2
Mother: 0

So there you go girls, the recipe for the perfect wife.

I've said it before, living with me is like living with another guy. I clean when the coven's coming over, otherwise I could give a fuck. I can find anything on earth to do that's more interesting or important than cleaning, ditto laundry, which gets done when there's no clean socks or underwear left.

Lover & friend are way more important than anything, housekeeping is important and I help with it a little, lion tamer, meh I need taming sometimes in a way but I'm pretty easy going and level headed. Mother....... I have one, and one is plenty enough.

My wife IS the perfect wife for me... Not because she fits into any order of importance in role type, but because she is always willing and able to work on anything about herself and us. All of those traits in the list are equally important to me. We've known each other for 6 years; married nearly 3. Her first marriage was a disaster, and I was with my ex-GF for 9 LONG, LONG years. My ex was easy to identify which role type, and I'd have said she was right for me. But guess what? Healthy people grow, and our needs & wants grow with us. She couldn't grow. My wife and I grow and change together, and at the same speed.

As I mentioned, my wife is the perfect woman for me... And thus, I guess the "housekeeper" part rates 0 on my list. Why? I just got up at 5:00AM sharp, to pick up dirty dishes, clothes, empty food wrappers, turn unused TVs and lights off, and even close doors left open. But she IS perfect for me, and I'd never trade her for anyone.
