I'm not saying that BB's shouldnt look like the hulk. Search my post for that opinion, it isn't there! I happen to be a Coleman fan, so don't put words in my mouth. Anyway, weren't you posting about old school looks better?

I'm explaining my opinion about why different types of bodies appeal to different people. Women count as people (outside of Eastern countries). So I don't think their opinion about what kind of body looks good is irrelevant (should we ignore 50% of the population when we ask "what kind of body looks the best?").

I'm not talking about what the goals of BB should be. What I'm talking about is how there are different things about muscular bodies that different people like. It's not just women, lots of men also prefer a more harmonious, well-proportioned body instead of cartoonish hugeness, and IMO that's rooted in the same aesthetic sensibility that attracts women. But there's obviously a lot to be said for a look that conveys raw power in the most extreme way humanly possible. I personally think Coleman looks badass (especially for a 40 year old!!), and I'd give him Olympia over Arnold in his prime, but plenty of people disagree with me. I'm trying to explain what i think is the basis for that disagreement.

Basically we will always find something to complain about whether it be AAS, GH or gene manipulation in the future. So, when the future comes im sure people are going to look back at Ronnie and say "the perfect body (ronnie)" in a thread and start talking about how good he looked compaired to the "gene manipulators" now

I've never understood people that train and diet for women. Most women don't give a fuck about it and they don't like very much muscle. You should be training for yourself.

I'll bet 50% of the population (women) pretty much unanimously favors old generation bodies over new ones. A lot of women don't like guys who are too big. After all, the psychological basis for a yardstick to judge beauty is the median characteristics of a population.

I think it's a little more complicated with BB though. IMO beauty and the appearance of strength are two different characteristics that make men attractive. They partly go hand in hand, but aren't one and the same. New generation BB's sacrifice some beauty for the visual implication of strength.

While men ARE sensitive to the attractiveness of other men, it exerts less influence on their perceptions than it does on those of women. So even though women are attracted to the appearance of strength, they weigh the aesthetic component more heavily than men do, and favor old generation bodies. Men weigh the strength component more heavily than women, since they are less sensitive to male attractiveness, and so it's understandable that there would be a lot of disagreement between men about what type of body is better since men are going to differ in their degress of sensitivty to male attractiveness and in the degree to which they value strength.

If you are a heterosexual, I think what women think does matter to about 99% of the men out there. The other 1% are at home playing video games. It may not be your main reason for working out, but it does factor into the equasion. I work out mainly for my job (strength) but I also like to look good (and I do) and even though I am happily married, it is ncie to get the looks from women. If you don't admit that you are either lying or gay....or a lying gay.
