The Last Ten Pounds!

New member
Okay, girls! I'm on a mission!! I am desperate to lose these last 10 pounds!!!!

Here's my story. Started Weight Watches at 161. Got down to 141. Then I gained a pound. So I was up to 142.2. Started CKD on May 29th. Stopped yesterday. Don't know why. I was feeling really good on it, but Monday I started TREX and something happened to my body. I have been having horrible headaches and stomach aches since Monday. Thursday night, I finally backed down and had a bowl of oatmeal hoping it would absorb whatever was in my stomach and make my tylenol work. Woke up this morning, tested myself and ofcourse I was out of Ketosis.

Anyway, I saw it as a good oportunity to change things once again. It seems my body gets use to everything after 4 weeks. So I decided that starting tomorrow, I will do a modified version of Spatts Cutting diet. Weighed myself this morning and I am 139.6. So that's 2.6 pounds and a little over 1% body fat down.

So, am I the only one out there who needs to drop 10 pounds? Are there others in the same boat? If so , let's support eachother? How bout it?

I don't think in terms of pounds, I think in terms of body fat %. I could drop ten pounds, but if it's water and muscle, I'd be better off in front of the TV with some waffle fries and a vat of mayo (not that nasty Miracle Whip...real mayo ;) ).

Have you ever had a hydro done? DEXA? Do you know how fat you really are?

You can look in the mirror and decide for yourself if you're carrying too much fat or not. I know my mirror is brutally honest...never had a Dale Carnegie course, that's for sure. I wouldn't get my heart set on "10 pounds," though. Just go for progress...like changes in the mm measurements on the caliper.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but if you don't HAVE 10 pounds of extra fat, you're going to be very disappointed when you can't lose it.

how tall are you?

please don't focus on lbs. (especially if you are lifting)

focus on BF and most of all, your clothes and the mirror.

I am many inches smaller than I was 2 years ago, yet I weigh the same or a few lbs MORE.

Devastation,

That's cool too!!! Keep on posting!

Spatts,

Yes, I also think in terms of %. The problem is, I am getting terribly discouraged. I need to see some progress somewhere.

When I look in the mirror, I do believe that I need to lose 10 pounds. My bf is still high. It's now at 30%. I don't know how accurate this is though, because when my husband takes it he says it's very hard and he's not sure if he's getting an accurate reading.

It also hurts like hell, when he takes my BF. Is that normal? Could I be one of those people with "hard" fat that the calipers wont work on?

I'm sick of looking for quick fixes. Everytime that I think I have everything straightened out I hit a wall.

Anyway, don't know why I wrote all of that. My plan is to moniter both BF and weight.

I posted my progress pics here awhile back. Just incase you wanna take a peak. Thanks for your advice.

Hi Jilly,

I'm 5'4". I know I shouldn't focus so much on weight, but I can't help myself! I feel so gross!! I've been feeling so down lately. I only trained 3 days last week, did maybe one 45 min cardio session and this week, I was sick Monday-Thursay. Today will be my first day back in the gym.

I feel like a record player, constantly repeating myself. I basically posted the same stuff when I started here in April. And I am basically still at the same point.

I keep telling myself if I have a goal to shoot for, say 10 pounds, then I can get motivation again. Maybe I should just shoot for 25% bf. I think that's resonable?!?

I just was hoping that I wasn't the only one on the board with this problem. I focus on it everyday. I can't stand it, really. I have two vacations. One in 2 weeks, one in the beginning of August. Instead of looking forward to them, I am dreading them!!!:bawling:

Sorry to vent like this. I've just been busting my hump for 4 weeks straight, and really saw little progress.

Personally I no longer weigh myself. I prefer to go by how I look in the mirror. Even better ( this really is the method) is to go by how your clothes fit. This is a much more accurate method. Because----if your clothes fit looser then you really have lost fat. Normally our clothes get tight where the fat is stored. The scale will drive you nuts!!!!!!! It is not at all accurate in telling you how your body composition has changed.

Lots of us here on the board have experienced this. Our wt by the scale may be the same or even more but our clothes fit better or we take a smaller size.

Only use a scale for weighing your food!

Frist thing you have to is get really, really honest with yourself about what you're putting in your mouth. Are you getting enough of the right things? Are you being honest about how often you cheat (not necessarily with us, but with yourself)? Are you taking in more than you're burning off? Are you working as hard as you can? As smart as you can? Does the fact that you're interested in starting a family change how dedicated you are willing to be to doing what it takes? Meaning, is this really what you want to be your priority right now...because it requires that...and if you don't want it more, then you don't want it more, and that's ok!!!!

Start a journal, and be brutally honest with yourself. You don't have to share it with us, but it could be a really important tool. Not just for reaching your goals, but for deciding what they really are. :)

Spatts,

Thanks again for replying. When I was on CKD, I was perfect! Never put anything in my mouth that would effect the diet. That's why I started to feel so damn discouraged. Some of the other people were posting how they lost 10 pounds the first week and I lost 2. What I have been slacking on is cardio. I guess I need to start doing my 45 min-60 min sessions again. :(

Tomorrow I plan on starting a diet, somewhat like yours. I got it off muscle and fitness hers. I am determined to stick to it. I have the willpower and the want power. I just wish my body would comply already.

Don't hang out too much on the diet board - the majority of posters there are men and it sucks but their bodies just work differently from ours. FORGET ABOUT POUNDS. Look in the mirror, use your special "guage" jeans. You gotta go longer than 4 weeks - 4 weeks is only just long enough for your body to figure out what's going on and start adapting. I suppose that sounds like you SHOULD change things at that point, but, uh, well, it doesn't mean that :)

And ... when was the last time you had a refeed? (a controlled, calculated one) Is CKD with all you can eat on weekends? If so - don't do that - most girls simply can't do all you can eat and still see progress - refeeds have to be low fat, high carb and for most women, from what I've seen around this board and in my own experience, not high GI. Just eat a whole lot of pasta or oatmeal or rice or something once a week on a Saturday night or something.

And - very good points spatts - funny how a "tiny" cheat here and a "tiny" cheat there add up. And being utterly sure of your goals really helps - I've found it hard lately to stick to my diet properly without a contest date to help with motivation. But then I think about my limited wardrobe and how it'll be pretty nasty having to go out in the few remaining things that fit, ha ha - that helps a lot :)

Don't worry though flxy - you'll get to a point where you know how much you can cheat and still see progress. It's all about eating as much as you can while still progressing in your goals.

Good luck.

Setting goals by scale weight is such a tangible thing, it's hard to get away from it. Since you do have someone taking your BF%, you might want to change to setting goals by BF% changes. And don't be discouraged that people have lost 10 lbs. first week of CKD; if you only lost 2 lbs., that means you weren't eating too poorly before you started the CKD, IMO. I'd feel awful about my eating habits if I lost 10 lbs. first week of a diet!

Sounds like you need a change though, and Spatt's cutting diet should be a good change for you. If you're not doing sprints and/or HIIT, you might want to try using those approaches for at least 2 of your cardio sessions/week. Good luck, and keep giving us updates! You should feel proud of yourself with the changes you've already accomplished (I checked out the progress pics). You've come a long way and shown you have the dedication to change your body the way you want to.

Hi Everyone,

Steel, yes I had 2 very controlled refeeds during the 4 weeks on CKD. Both times I focussed on good goods like, oatmeal and whole wheat pasta.

JJ,

Thanks. Yes, you are right. Even if the calipers aren't accurate, as long as I am seeing changed then that's all that should matter. Thanks a lot! :D

Flexy,

CKD doesn't work for everyone and your switching it up will only help you find what works best for you.

Be true to yourself but don't be overly hard on yourself either.

:D

Oh and Spatts - :p

I know how you feel. I've had a bad few months here and just as I was back in the gym regularly, something else happened that messed it all up. I got on the scale yesterday and gained a few lbs...not water...grrrrrrrr!

I've got plans for the 4th of July, hotel booked on the beach, meeting up with friends, etc. and today I put on my bathingsuit and am not happy, but, SCREW IT! I'm going and enjoying myself. If someone looks at me and doesn't like what they see, they can just take a walk. I'll wear my wrap around my waist and forget about it for the time. We work so hard to look the way we want to but sometimes we have our setbacks and we have to accept it, otherwise we'll miss out on so much of the good stuff in life. Instead of not enjoying my plans, I'm accepting how I am for the time being...I know I'll get to where I wanna be eventually...sometimes things just go a little slower than planned.

Go ahead and ENJOY your vacations and don't worry about anything. You'll get to where you want to be eventually if you keep workin at it. Don't beat yourself up about it...you've come a long way already and should be proud!

Thanks everyone. I hate to be such a whiny baby. I really do have the drive. Started the new "diet" today.

B:3 egg whites with a bowl of oatmeal.
s: ABB Protein Shake
Meal 2:3 oz very, very lean ground beef with a 4 oz Yam
Meal 3: 5 oz of Tuna with lettuce, tomato, cucumber with balsamic vinegar mixed with mustard on the side
Meal 4: Plan on having chicken with a baked potato and brocolli.

Flexy,

You are in no way a whiney baby, far from it. You have worked hard to get where you are. Just keep going. From what I have seen here most of these ladies have had to learn through trial and error what works for them. If we are lucky, we can learn from them and maybe not have to many errors : )

i have been on a ckd for about 6 months, and it is getting more frustrating to keep my bf% so low. i dont measure bf%, only judge by my clothes, and my pants are a little tighter than they were in summer...i just feel bloated in winter.

i am now trying to tweak my ckd, with smaller portions and only 1/2 day carb-up w clean carbs.

i didnt lose much 'weight' on ckd - so dont worry about that; but everyone told me how much weight ide lost - meaning bf%.
so like everyone else, consentrate on how u feel/look rather than weigh yourself.

Mrs. P and Spatts,

I will probably switch meals 3 and 4 during the week to be a bit earlier..well generally I have my last meal at around 7:30.

Anyway, meal 4 was after the gym. What would be the ideal meal breakdown, as far as time goes?
