everyone was involved in the tulip market and the banks would loan 90% of the percieved fair market value for the tulips based on their collor and how rare they were
what do you think people did with the cash they borrowed? they bought more tullips and then borrowed against these tullips so they could buy more tullips all on the speculation that these tullips would increase in value
it all worked until some dudes realised that nobody was even using these tulips and nobody was ever going to take possesion so they sold short, selling tullips they did'nt own and the banks could'nt keep financing the bubble
so the moral of the story is gimme green K, but only if you like this post
