The HAte!!!!

I don't know about anybody here, but isn't there a time when you lift when you hurt and ache and want to quit?? At this time I step back take a look around the commercial gym I go to and start to hate everything there. I mean I hate the people lifting cause they are just babying themselves, they don't know what pain is with their machine routines and isolation excercises. I hate them for laughing and joking around, the gym is a place to test one's will and power. I the frilly music and the guy telling me how big he use to be. Or the other who complain about not seeing results, yet don't have a drop sweat on them. I use that hate to drive me on, every drop of blood, every time I throw up, every time I black out, every time I feel myself being ripped apart I use that Hate to drive me on....

Am I alone in this??? Or does anyone feel the same

I am going to have a shirt made that says "Fueled by Rage" I'll have to send you one once I get them made.

I feel the hatred pretty much during all my waking hours, and most of the time when I dream, it's what keeps me going.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I hate the guys doing partial reps on everything, who swagger around like they own the place. Ive even heard guys point at me and say look how big he is, and he only benches 3 1/2 plates per side for reps, I can do that much. The difference being I touch the bar to my chest on every rep, but you could limbo underneath their bars...

LoL. Needsize. My favorites are the preacher curl guys.

I saw a guy with 17's load up 195 pds on the ez bar preacher and do sissy curls.

Pathetic.

I admit it, as unfair as it sounds, I feel like that too sometimes.
The kind of stuff I see at my gym really annoys me

I go to the UofA gym and man let me tell you. I would say 90% of the people are there to mess around. I have heard of some guys just going there to pick up on chicks. Rarely do I see anyone going all out. Most people are pussies in general, thats why they are failing to make decent gains.

Just grab a jumpstretch band and a 2.5 pd plate....5pd plate if you feel really inclined...

Strap the band around the pillars of the bench....take the plate pull back and break someone...and there is always the manual way of doing it.

It pisses me off when people do quarter squats...and deadlift barbell curls...LIKE WTF is that...i mean a little deviation i don't freak out about...but when u are dealifting it and your bud is helping..WTF!

I hate the guys who act badass and all "macho", "barbaric" man....the type who like to complain about "no body understands the pain I go through"....Kinda like the original post in this thread :)

Seriously I ain't flamin ya bro but I often see guys who think they're better than everyone else b/c they're hardcore. Trust me the newbie types of guys, the guys who talk on their cells at the gym, etc they all piss me off too......But I ain't better than anyone else in there who's just trying to reach their goals.

Yeah, I see both extreme's in my gym. The wannabes and the hardcores, and they both piss me off.

Nothing like a guy doing awful bicep curls in the only squat rack for hours and hours....

being hardcore doesnt make you better than anyone else, I've never seen anyone put in the same intensity at my gym, and I am pretty much the biggest guy there(out of over 3000 members), but I am also one of the nicest, always taking time to help newbies. There is no excuse for being a dick in the gym

I hate the guys who think they are huge and ripped and they bench 3-4 times a week and "work their bi's" every time i see them. These guys are in the gym EVERYDAY. Yet you never see them touch a bar to squat or deadlift or even OHP. They think they're so tough on their HAMMER STRENGTH MACHINES. Sometimes i wanna throw a bar in their general direction and say HERE TRY THIS SUCKER

There's this guy in my gym like that. He wears jeans to the gym to work out in because he has never even thought of doing legs. I hate him, oh so very much.

There's a kid that goes to my gym..he spends the entire time at the cable crossover machine doing nothing but curls. He spends over an hour doing curls then proceeds to spend 30 minutes doing crunches. I can go through an entire full body workout including squats, bench, OHP, chins, etc. before he is done with his 300 set curl routine.

Maybe it shouldn't but it really bothers me.

I with you on this one scotsman.

Thats one reason why i started to build my own gym in my basement, i hated alot of people in my commerical gym, sometimes i'd walk in and look around and turn back around and say fuck it.

What i hate is the women that are all decked out in the latest fashion, those gay visors hats, they look pretty trampy, all they do is walk around talking, then do some ab work then keep walkin around chatting away, talkin super loud, so annoying. There was some kid about 2 months ago that went to my gym, he looked like he was 140 pounds tops, went on the cable flys, finished his 3 sets then was walking around with his chest sticking out, eye balling everyone like he's some bad ass, kid only did 20 pounds on each side, and was flat benching with a 35 pound plate on each side.

I work out in my basement now, have enough weights and a power rack, some dumbells, it does the job for me. I can't complain anymore.

I love those guys, they are sooo big till myseslf or one of hte other really big guys get there, then all of a sudden the imaginary lat syndrome disappears and they dont strut so much. Those are the same guys that get mad when they catch their girlfriends checking out a bodybuilder

It pisses me off when I see little wannabes checking their abs in the mirror every 2 minutes. It's like they're so insecure about their size, they need to remind themselves that they have abs ... my 3 year old cousin has abs, give me a break

i ignore everyone and everything...i have ACDC on repeat and all that matters is me and my set. sometimes i ask someone how many sets they have left when they are chatting/assing around/on a cell phone and using something i need

Thank God for this thread!!! I've unfortunately had to train at my local "24" for the last 3 years. (yeah, yeah, I know). But this is the only gym that can accomodate me if I can't train until late night. Some of the fuckin characters that come in the gym drive me and my boys up the wall. The majority of the people that train there are novices at best and don't seem to have any desire to learn good form. I find myself helping some poor guy on unspotted "ego" benches or correcting another's "speed" curls with 20lb dumbells, at least once a day. Most of the time, I just try to zone them out because a lot of them honestly believe they're the shit. But I guess what really fuels my aggression which in turn fuels my workouts are the assholes that you see come in the gym for 3 mo.s at a time, never looking any different, but that try to throw around big weights with terrible form and constantly dog you as if they're sizing you up thinking they're stronger than you are. I don't lift for anyone else but myself, but I gotta admit...I do get some satisfaction out of humbling those wannabe badasses when I lift twice as much as them with perfect form and even more volume.

Ok I gotta chim in on this one. I try really hard NOT to be a show off at the gym. But the fact is that I have spent a lot of time working out and eatting right and so I lift heavy, as anyone else would if they spent the same amount of time and energy. In fact I go as far as to keep my head down when I walk around the gym to get a drink or move to the next bench so I dont come across as someone who thinks they are better, but it never fails I get these little fucks that are 1 foot shorter and 100 lbs lighter that drank a fuckin gallon of hateraid before they came to the gym. Well this had gone on for a long time till once last summer. I was at a local YMCA at 2 in the afternoon so there was me and a couple poeple in the whole gym and I was doing a super set with the preacher and some dumbells that were directly behind me. This guy comes up and just picks up the dumbells I was using! So I turned around and started to say hey Im using those and before I could get it out this guy says some thing like hey dickhead I dont fuckin care,Keep in mind Im 6'4 270 and lean this guy is maybe 5'8 150? I fuckin lost it, all those times of little fuckers eyeing me in the gym all the rage from waiting on jack asses in the gym all boiled over, I didnt say anything for a good 5 seconds after he called me out I just stood there all that rage we are all talking about was ready to blow and out of nowhere I just went off. I hit him one time, to be honest it was the first time I really hit anyone out side of sports. He was out before he hit the ground. Needless to say I am banned for life at the Y but it was worth it.

Trust me..I know about pain as well as wondering why everyone else doesn't seem to go through it (the people that I see).

Can't be mad at ya bro...the fucker deserved it. Probably wouldn't advise anyone else to do what you did, but I know where you're comin from.

True that... Days were I can barely crawl out of bed to take a warm shower and some pain killers to get through my day. So much pain on sets I get nauscous and get the shakes from my body going into shock. This all happening while other prance around spouting how tough and strong they are on the smith machine.

I hate almost everyone and everything around me, except for the few who understand the pain and determination one must havfe to reach their goals

I got the greatest compliment from a guy at the gym last night. I was doing iso rows and he couldn't belive how much I was doing. Anyway the compliment was that he said "you never show off or yell to get attention or anything even though you lift more than just about anyone in here" I told him I am there to lift for me not to get peoples attention or to gain acceptance and I have nothing to prove to anyone in that gym except for me. Then we laughed about the guys with no legs who thing they are huge or the guys who don't lift much but scream and yell like it was a thousand pounds or something.

Once you get a major surgery i would hope you are part of the group that claims pain insurance and can say whatever the hell it wants....

the typical gym user is a jackass, true but I don't hate anyone unless they directly impinge on my workouts. I can't stand showboaters & attention whores especially when they're patheticly built

I don't work out in a gym, so I wouldn't know. My garage is great, I get to drop weights and grunt and swear and play the type of music I like.

majutsu-what is the symbolism of your avatar? that dude needs to eat :)

It's a painting by a really interesting artist named Alex Grey. Enjoy http://www.alexgrey.com/ if you like art. I particularly like the "paintings" section, "progress of the soul". I just like his art.

Man, my gym could be on fire and I wouldn't know it unless some ones taps
me on the shoulder to tell me. Point is, I'm too damn busy to give a toss.
F*ck the gym pimps, cardio skanks, wannaB's, whatever, your there
for yourself. They paid their gym dues. If they're not in your way, forget um'.

you are intelligent, disciplined and focused on your goals with respect to training. the contempt for those around you who lack these attributes is just a manifestation of your hardcore mentality. nothing to lose any sleep over. in fact, it is something to cherish of since it can be extended into almost any area outside of training and competition.
