It;s only slow because cable companies have bought most ISPs. Cable companies want the web slowed because they want to control the distruibution of content - they sdon;t want you downlaoding movies, they want you paying. Keeping teh download speeds slow makes their methoid more profitable.
As wireless technology gets better and better, all of the cable ownership of sdistribution media will mean less and less. Internet in the car is a matter of years - we'll see it soon, and Internet radio will fill the gap mang, followed by TV etc.
Bandwidth itself is not really a problem - there is so much more capaicty then we are using. Distruibution is the problem.
