The decision has been made!

I have decided to go with this pup! She is a registered pure breed Siberian Husky. I am getting her from B&H Kennels....Right now she is 3 1/2 weeks old and weighs 4.4lbs., I'll be able to pick her up in 3 more weeks. Her pedigree is unbelievable!

I have the option of a limited AKC registration or full AKC registration with show and breeding rights...I don't know a thing about showing or the dog breeding thing....With her pedigree, from an investment standpoint, is it dumb not to show or breed her? After all, I just wanted a buddy for my son. Anyone that knows about these two things post up.

The breeder emailed me these pics today, they were taken Tuesday.

All of the common 400+ champion/international champion stuff from either parent aside. Her pops, 3 uncles, grand-dad, and great grand-dad had main roles in the Disney films "Snow Dogs" and "Eight Below". And since I used to work in film I thought that was great!

I loved that film & I LOVE the puppy! (My cat can still pin him....) That should be fun! Congrats!

TY, I know fat cat mojo will have some thumpin's for her 'til she really gets big.

I haven't seen the movies yet but I believe one of her uncles played Demon in which ever film "Demon" was in, I can't remember who the others played.....I already have almost a 2 inch thick stack of info. on her and her family history.

See seems kind of high maintenance and all, since she appears to have already started a collection of porcelain figurines at only 3 1/2 weeks of age.

I bet she picks out the most expensive china and silver patterns when she gets married.

Actually the angel is there to gauge the size of the pup.......

Way to take the easy way out guys. lol ;)

my gf has a husky that i am tight with
fun dogs, though the have some issues
they must be run freqeuntly or they get pissy
they have zero loyality, if you drop their leash goodbye
they always have to be leashed or penned.
but you proly know this

Good looking pup, huskies are cool dogs. I had a friend in highschool who had a regular and a red husky.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Yup.....But it's not that they are'nt loyal because they really are......They just run
and run
and run
and run
and run
and run
and run
and run
and run
and run
and run.....so much so, they're silly with it!

If loose they can cover approx. 9 miles in a night without even thinking about it....This however can be trained out of them.

mojo, i just bought this thing for my dog and she LOVES it. Its a slingshot for tennis balls. The stronger you are, the further they shoot- she goes galloping across the open field to get them, then charging back at me. its so funny to watch, but it really gets her a lot of exercise (and me).

that is one HUGE friggin' puppy. I hope you own stock in purina.

She'll be able to stomp a mud-hole in Cliffords ass in about 4 months.

No Purina stock....I'll have to feed her homeless people.

I think I have seen what you are describing.......I will have to wait until she has graduated Puppy U before I do that....Or it will be like Gumby said.

Like the scene from "Funny Farm" (Chevy Chase flick), Chevy throws a stick to be fetched, and the dog just runs off and disappears over the horizon. Never even came close to the stick.

its called "hyperdog" or something. I have a lot of open land, but its bordered by woods and mountains. a few times i've been afraid that she's going to just keep going. I thought she was going to climb a tree after a squirrel once.

That would suck if it ran off....sad as it is to say, if that happened to me first thing i'd do is look around to see if anyone was watching. Next thing i'd do would be to justify why it ran off so I wouldn't start thinking that it just didn't like me.

dogs are dumb. they start running and are thinking, "I'm running!"
and then they just keep thinking it until they are wandering around in the middle of nowhere in the dark, miles from home and thinking "I'm hungry".

Any of these "traits" can be conditioned, just give the dog a lot of attention and love, it will be loyal.

BTW, don't get into breeding/showing unless you really have a big hole in your life... leave it up to the freaks who specialize in it... Get your dog and spoil the shit out of it. It will make your life more fulfilling

Solid advice.

unless you are a husky afficando i'm gonna have to disagree
i know a few families who have sled dog teams, and they always keep their animals chained up because they bounce if they don't
just how it is

It just depends on what the training is, I talked with the breeder about this and she told me that for a sled team 90% of the training recieved is for that specific purpose, on the other hand, if the same dog was trained for show and obedience it's a whole diff story.

You are somewhat right on the "just how it is" part to a degree. While other breeds untrained will inherently just stick to you, a Husky will bolt as it is in it's nature, but it can be trained out of the doggy. The breeder explained that part of the ground show is to unleash the dog and go over commands from distances and from behind things.

one of my dogs hates to step too far from my house- the other one, who is happy as a dog can get, would wander off if i don't watch her. Its not that she's not loyal- its that her nature is to chase squirrels, leaves, and anything else she sees (often, its deer and she just keeps running). then she starts eating some grass, some deer crap, chases another leaf, plays with a stick, etc. and before I know it, she's acres away.

my gf has her dog on a electronic tether...the dog, denali, gets excited when we put her racing harness on...the other day when we went to put the harness on, she got so excited that she ran before we could put it on...right through the invisible barrier and down the road she went.
real fun trying to chase a natural born runner like a husky

I know what you are saying.....But they can be trained not to do that shit though and it has to start within the first 8-10 weeks it's alive, I still will not trust in that 100%.....maybe 40% and see where that goes.

great dogs, awesom companions
if i ever have my own dog it will be a husky
but they are kinda peculiar, they don't play fetch like other dogs do.
and they have other nunaces unique to their breed
have fun good bor!

Yeah I know they do have their pros and cons but the pros are so far and above the cons.

That only works if you know how big the angel is...

really cool dogs/puppy...they do two things: siberian husky's Dig, and Run. they sleep once in awhile, but mostly DIG and RUN.

good luck.
