the darkness

I just bought the CD and I really like it. I understand what they are trying to do. People were bagging his singing a bit cuz he does a Freddy Mercury type thing with his voice which is kind of Raw. Once you get use to it he sounds great and he really can sing well. The songs are played well and vvery catchy. It's kind of Spinal tappish and the singer has a great frontman presence in the video I have seen.

they came outta nowhere and are selling butloads of cd's now

So the the Darkness are doing America huh! They made it big in the UK last year and have been the most hyped rock band for many a year. Some people have knocked them, accusing them of being un-original, but the fact is they are really talented musicians (particularly the bro's on guitars), have got a great frontman, and produce classic rock songs.

I've seen a couple of their live shows on the box, and they are a class act. The frontman (Justin Hawkins) really gets the crowd wound-up and involved. He's good in interviews too, and the whole band never take themselves too seriously.

There is'nt a bad track on the album really, 'Giving up', I beleive in thing called love' and 'Love is only a feeling' are my favs.

Out of interest what's their debut single in the States?

Word.

I think most people initially laugh at the vocals (super high pitched 80's shit), but it grows on you.

omg - the Darkness fzcking r0xors. Have you seen the video for "I believe in a thing called love"?

they rock because they don't take themselves seriously yet they're competent musicians... unlike, say, britney et al who are the exact opposite.

haven't seen the video

but it's definitely refreshing to see a band with some skill and a little humor that can actually make some quality music.

Fun to hear melodic 80's hard rock again. Lead singer has that Freddie Mercury thing going more than one way. Check the videos.
