About what specifically?? Like in a 5 senctence cliff note....

It's controversial because it basically indicates that Leonardo Da Vinci hid many secrets in his works. These various works, indicate that Jesus was married to Mary Magdelene. That Jesus's bloodlne was passed on through generations and that the Vatican purportedly went to great lengths to conceal various facts. The book is fiction as is the movie however, just like any good fiction, it is based on Non-Fiction. Staunch catholics etc. don't want to believe that there has been any concealment or propaganda by their churches and religious leaders when it comes to following their faith. This movie puts that into question. :coffee:

More accurately

It's controversial because it manufactures a completely fictional plot which in addition to questioning many of the most important tenents of the Christian faith, invents a millenia old conspiracy by the Church and those associated with it to "cover up the truth."

That in and of itself is hardly noteworthy. There have been endless number of books which have done the same. What causes this one to stand out is an unethical author who both in writing and in interviews continues to allege that there is some historical truth to this fanatsy. So while acknowledging that the particulars themselves may be fictional, they are based on actual events with historical accuracy.

This is of course nothing more than a deceptive device to confuse the historically ignorant and ass allure to his work. It has been dissected and trashed repeatedly as nonsense with no historical merit. But since he continues to represent otherwise it has forced those who wish to avoid seeing their faith misrepresented to speak out.

The Elders of Zion and their vast Jewish conspiracy is also a myth with no historical basis, but it was used by Nazi's and many others to justify the slaughter of millions of jews.

One of the best Books I have ever read... I like Brown's writing style...

Can't remember the last movie I saw ...

Jens if you like to read, read the book ... Angels & Demons 1st though ...

Okay, I heard the funniest damn thing in the nail salon. I nearly peed my pants. This airhead said it was her favorite book and said it was about LEONARDO DI CAPRIO hiding secrets in his works. How do people like this exist without walking in front of traffic or drowning in the bathtub by the time they are 10, I have no idea. LOL.

:lmao: Shut up ...

I read Digital Fortress and it was all I could do not to throw the book at the wall. It was like a novelization of a bad TV movie, complete with 1966 vintage "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" special effects.

Haven't read The DaVinci Code and I don't plan to -- it's obvious that Dan Brown isn't fit to shine Tom Clancy's shoes.

I hear ya there, but what do you do when you've read all the Tom Clancy books? I find some of the stuff he co-writes to be tedious. I've read all the Clive Cussler and most of the books by other writers like them. Dan Brown was good tho - I read them all a couple yrs ago. I like the historical aspect as I'm a history buff too. I didnt' think they stood out that much as anything terribly controversial or anything fantastically amazing either.

I'm sure the movie destroyed the story a bit and all the drama is just mind numbing. Like people dont' have anything better to do. The guy on the radio talk show I listen to was saying the whole thing is the Catholic Church trying to denounce the whole idea of Jesus being married & having a child, etc. But the level of protest literally blows away the Catholic priest molestations that were finally addressed last yr. That seems a bit skewed in importance if you ask me. People must be tired of protesting gas prices & the Iraq War.
