After that it got better every single time, and eventually elevated itself into greatness.

I love all of the Coen brothers films. Well, not so much Blood Simple - the director's cut was better (perhaps the first time the director's cut was much shorter).
Barton Fink was also a bit odd.
And then The Man Who Wasn't there wasn't really fantastic.

But everything else they have done has been perfect. I love them.
