This is my method for test taking in college that I feel works quite well.

*Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for the side effects the drugs listed may cause. Side effects include high blood pressure, cerebral infarctions, myocardial infarctions, dry mouth, hostility, heart palpitations, and one awesome cool feeling etc etc*

Ok, So you have a test coming up in 2 days and you really need to study hard for it. If you can get yourself a hold of some adderall this will make your time spent studying more effective.

You need an extreme increase in dilligency right...?

20mg ER taken on study days 1 and 2 and put in about 4 hours of studying on each day. The day of the test do not take any amphetamines, but right before your test drink a Red Bull (the sugary kind, not the sugar free).

Come test day you may have a burnout feeling with the adderall cesation, but this is ok. Over stimulation + tests= poor test taking abilities. I have noticed in the past that I have just sat there and stared at the test...and did weird things like erase some numbers I wrote 5 times because I didnt think they looked neat enough.... But anyway, the red bull will give you that amp you need right before your test with the sugar rush and the speedy feeling.

I recommend it for good test grades.

Senior here with a 3.8 gpa (over the three previous years) and never needed any drug to help. just smart time management and going to class.

today I got back my midterm in my hardest class. one of two tests for thw whole semester and I got a 94%, all essay. How did I do so well? Spread my studying over 4 days. Studied for less than 2 hours each day and studied 3-4 hours the night before. You might think that is alot time but I do tons of other stuff while studying, like listen to music, browse the net, eat, talk on the phone. So the time goes by fast yet I learn and retain enough over each day that it adds up and come test day, my brain is full.

Dude, you do that too?

BTW, calcium carbonate can help potentiate amps by lowering stomach pH thus allowing for faster absorption. Magnesium can have an effect as well, albeit more complicated. Both chemicals can be readily found in an illicit amphetamine-potentiating stack known on the market as "rolaids". Mexican pharms should have generics of this as well.

That's all you study? Damn, your grade inflation must rival Harvard's. ;)

I suggest you study the weekend before the test starts..in a group..mostly hot woman too

Easier said than done WRT engineering.

Tutoring freshmen-level classes is the obvious course of action here.

What's your major Beachbum?

Engineering really presents a problem as most of the week is spent doing homework for each class. When a test comes a long its somewhat out of procedure means you have to spend even MORE time doing everything.

So what's your LSAT score? *giggle*

In all seriousness though, tag a 174+ and with your GPA you could be a prestigious 1L at HLS next year. (Their fucking 25% LSAT is 174 for this year's incoming class. Fuck.)

I already have my winter break planned. I bought a LSAT book that has ten previous tests in it. So, I plan on doing a test everyday or at leasy every other day. Shooting for a 170+, be happy with a 160+.
Took the SATs once with no prep and got a 1340, if that implies anything.

Oh shit, you're actually going that route? LOL, I was just makin' a LS joke. You seriously got the GPA, but DON'T settle with a 160 if you want in a T14 LS. LSAT scores of incoming classes for this year are at their highest ever, with median GPA of admits dropping slightly from previous years.

C'mon over to the law board, it's like EF C&C but with a bunch of UG's and 1L's and no moderators: xoxohth.com click on "law" for the law board.

LOL, you post there or lurk?

That board rules, lol. I have one of Pensive's quotes in my sig.

Just lurk. I feel like I need a 4.0 from Harvard and a 180 on the LSATs just be worthy to post so I don't bother. I haven't even taken the LSATs yet so there's no point in asking what school I can get into when I don't even have a number to go off of.

What I am kind of worried about is I'm taking the LSATs in January and I'm worried if that will cause me to apply too late.

LOL, yeah, the prestige-whore boards always have the HYP trolls rallying up anti-TTT warcries. One of the biggest posters there is TropesNIU: goes to Chewy's school, a veritable TTT, and has a 2.5ish GPA. XO and CC both kinda present the same analogous aura as EF and others do to the non-weightlifter, who thinks the whole board has the stats of Needsize or Galaxy and can talk AAS mech's like a biochemist. It's an image.

BTW, here's the new HLS stats
http://www.law.harvard.edu/admissions/jd/body.php

You can approximate your LSAT after a few practice tests. It'll at least give you an idea of what tier you fit in. Work in some reaches and safties from there. Prestige is nice, but in the end, it's all about finding a school that's a match for you. Lots of people who aim for the most prestigious undergrad/grad school/LS based on rankings alone are miserable there. I'd never go to H or Y for physics if I could even get in; I'd be miserable there. UofC and P rank lower, but I'd be much happier there. Those were actually my grad school reaches before all this medical shit came down. Either way, it's all about where the individual applicant will fit in; HYPSC ain't for everyone.

Why do you hang out on the law board, too many applied science types over here? Some of us actually miss your posts.

I've been at home on break for the past 4-5 days, and my dad's primary computer got fried beyond the surge protector's limits, so I just checked email and stuff with the laptop.

I hang out on a couple college admissions boards, but XOXO has a law board which is, by far, like comparing EF C&C to EF Style, Fashion and Grooming. So I find myself there more than the college board.

I posted a super cool video of my friend doing stupid stunts and stuff to make up for my lack of posts lately.

your laughing because of the liberal arts degree right?
i know quite a few peeps who have lib degrees, myself included, and do quite well...a few of them even make better loot than some engineers at Oldsmobile make...all how you apply yourself. being a engineer, at least in michigan, does not guarantee you a job.

I even refrained from bashing other majors. Just having a college degree in the first place is definitely respectable but becoming more common. Just as you know liberal arts majors who do quite well even compared to engineers I know people who do quite well with no degree.

My mom for instance...supports our whole family, lives in southern california, sends me off and supports me 100% throughout college. My dad is a homemaker, hahahha. She doesnt have a degree.

I'm laughing 'cause I play the physics majors vs. engineering majors game, where we're in the same boat pretty much, but it's kind of a interdisciplinary rivalry. Same with science majors vs. everyone else, but that's just 'cause everyone else sucks, lol.

The thing with pre-law and pre-med is they almost HAVE to take a relatively easy major, since med and law school admissions are primarily a numbers game. They don't give a damn if you have a 3.2 in chemical engineering, the kid with a 3.95 in liberal arts will run all over you. So the pre-law/med gunners are often subject to ridicule for taking easy undergrad majors... but they more than make up for it when they get to law/med school.

Honestly, in general, a liberal arts degree doesn't give one much of an advantage in the working field other than the possession of a degree. Abbott doesn't want a LA major, they want chem knowledge. NASA wants engg and physics. Zoos want zoologists. Meh, you get the idea. It's like a specialization.

A kind of general rule of thumb going around is that a college degree is worth today what a HS degree was worth in our parent's age. Hence the surge in 'harder' majors like engg and ephases on graduate schooling.

No one knew what a physicist was before WWII. They just filled in when engineers were needed, lol. The growth of engg/science/post-college education has been huge the last several decades.

I plan on reading to my kindergarten class my favorite book, "How the puppy lost his way." That's why I chose to be a LA major.
And if anyone is interested in reading one of my three 25+ single spaced argumenative essays I wrote for my con law, I'll post it. Not much math or chemistry in my major but when you write enough essays to equal a novel that merits some repsect.

Credited, but I don't think things with the title 'law' fall under LA (ie. con law). I honestly have no idea what either of your majors entail, lol. Is poly sci and such considered LA?

And just to play the role of antagonist... 25+ page "essays" are known as "weekly lab writeups" in pchem, lol. I know the engineers could cut in here and give an equivalent lab load. ;) ;) ;)
