The Banana PW

~SC~ said:
A banana, if you want my opinion, won't make a shit bit of difference either way post-workout, so go ahead w/it. It won't hurt you, but won't contribute to recovery in any manner.

About dextrose being garbage, well, I'm not addressing that. I'll leave that for the countless other threads/debates about this simple concept.

Nothing? Really? Not even aid in recovery?

personally, I have eaten a banana for post-workout recovery, and added to a a standard shake, it will neither help nor hinder your recovery ability. However, the statement regarding fructose replenishing liver glycogen is very true, a micture of maltodextrin and glucose is typically the best way to jack up the insulin post-workout.

Does this make any sense what-so-ever???

Why would you eat it if it does nothing........

Why would you want to replace liver glyogen?

Why wouldn't you take in glucose if you are such a strong advocate?

I relied to this statement in quite a hurry before, now I can sit down and actually type something out longer than one sentence. First, chill out man, it's ok, breath....ok, now that we've taken care of that, I said I HAVE, which would indicate past-tense. NOW, present tense :), I do eat a 50/50 mixture of maltodextrin and d-glucose as my carb source during and immediately post-workout. You would not want to replace liver glycogen, which is why I do not utilize fruit post-workout now. But, from your avatar it seems that you know a thing or two about diet yourself. In other threads you seem to love brown rice and yams for your primary carb sources, I think I might have to incorporate more of this in my next bulking cycle.

I know so many bb that eat bananas..........prob. for the potatsium........makes me wonder.........but, I've still refrained thus far..............I know I used to slam 2 as soon as I was done training, but that was back in school, where we also use to use roadkill as our protein source...........well, maybe not that hardcore...............
