Cows are actually very massive -- so much so, that when one attempts to jump over the moon, the mass of the cow and the earth (which are nearly the same order of magnitude) mutually attract each other. Since we all know that earth is held in it's orbit by Newton's laws of motion, it cannot move, and thus the cow feels the entire force of gravity pulling it back onto the earth's surface.
