BS? Tell that to the Lady who was seized by burmese pirates along with her husband while in Thailand in 2001. Everyone stolen ended up dead except for her. She was in the jungle for like 11 months in captivity. They tried to ransom them to the US government. Not a lie.


Somalian priates will do the same stuff. But they don't live near thailand.

You're nuts. The coast over there is even dangerous. The last few yrs they have had to up the security.

Hell, it's been a problem for yrs. When ppl were fleeing vietnam for political reasons, they were always getting robbed at sea by the burmese pirates.

yeah like the average person hangs out way offshore in the gulf of Thailand or in the jungles on the burmese border.

Trust me, I lived there for 11 yrs - it is much safer than the smallest safest town in the USA.

Man this place is so safe its rediculous.... dont listen to any of that pirate shit, dude we've walked around the slums and shit they treat you like god. tourists are the reason they eat every nite so they will look after us better than there own. thats exactly how they have been to us.

the down side is its like 35 degrees celcious every day and humidity is 95%.... your wet the second you walk out of your room. but all that aside they are the nicest people you'll ever meet and the gear oh my god... bottles and bottles of anadrol, bags upon bags full of vials, shit i need a cold shower just thinkin about it.

I've been there around 8 times, including a 3 month stint. Not ONCE did I ever feel in danger. Someone mentioned some incident in 2001? Think of all the whacked out shit that has happened in the US, Canada, or any country in that amount of time... I think that Thailand is a very safe place. Of course, just like anywhere, it's not absolutely absent of any danger at all, but it's not that prevalent. In fact, like most places, as a tourist you're going to be safer for the most part. The biggest danger would be getting overcharged for stuff (but still, it will be cheaper than most places!).

I stayed in a new stylin' bungalow, two rooms, A/C, pool in front, laundry, cleaning service everyday (hell, they washed my dishes for me every morning, too!), etc. etc... All at a very reasonable price.

To top it all of, I became friendly with an awesome pharmacist. I would walk in, she would hand me the "book" and a cold drink, grab a chair and tell me to sit down while I was choosing what I wanted. If she didn't have it, she'd usually order it and have it delivered by hand to the door of my bungalow within a day or two (BTW, I was staying about 30 minutes from the pharma). Not bad, eh?

Just to add... If you're going to Thailand, don't be stupid: stay away from narcotics, don't be an ugly tourist, don't be an ass. Do those things, and you'll be fine. If you don't go because of the stuff you read about pirates, you have no idea what you're missing. Seriously. Go. Now. Thank me later.
