Testosterone as method of male birth control?

Completely unreliable. Should never have been suggested in the first place.

I beg to differ....it just takes longer than the average cycle for it to work.

I took some classes on Human sexuality in school and did a huge paper on it (I can post it if you want).

Studies have shown that sperm production goes to zero when test levels are augmented. It just takes about 4 or 5 months to become a reliable form of birth control. A lot of pharmaceutical companies are seriously considering products stemming from this area of research. Phizer being one of them :)

From my own research using myself as the subject, I got my wife pregnant after being on for close to a year. The last 3 months at 1g a wk. I was suprised to say the least. BTW it was mine although I had doubts at first, considering it is "impossible.":p

There are too many other forms of birth control and too many men with kids who thought a cycle would work as birth control. One of my friends knocked up his girl a couple months ago while on enanthate.

One "cycle" isn't enough to make it reliable. It takes months for your sperm production to cease completely. Hence, I agree with you. A cycle won't be of any use with regards to birth control.

I've come across a few posts that have suggested test therapy has proven to be quite an effective form of birth control for males. I have also heard studies showing as high as 98-99% efficiency. Can anyone concur? My gf is acting like a fuckin bitch lately and need to get her off the pill...and coincidently it so happens I'm on a test cyp 500mg/week + 400mg/week eq cycle at the moment. Any ideas?

Yeah I've come across some studies stating this also. Funny how a women can take birth control which is estrogen to prevent pregnancy but if a man were to take testosterone for the same purpose, he'd be frowned upon by society.

I haven't seen anything like that... the few birth control studies I'm seen were using nandrolone-like stuff, not testosterone. Progesterone (and progesterone-like) chemicals seem to shut you down much much harder than testosterone.

Conversely, I've seen studies showing that 300mg/wk of Testosterone Enth only dropped LH/FSH by 50%...so you still got *plenty of spermies* running around to get girls pregnant...

Search New england journal of medicine for studies regarding the efficacy of this.
