actually if you own a company they can pay for "tits" with company money and taxes are not needed to be paid..

if you're having reconstructive surgery. . .you can deduct a lot of cosmetic stuff. . .otherwise nada. . .in your scenario, that payment would either be compensation (i.e., fully taxable) or (if the "company" in question is an S corporation) a shareholder distribution of "previously taxed" income. . .

my "refund" is used to fund my retirement contribution (after the fact). . .

I don't think that will not affect your filing status. If you do a traditional IRA, then you would save some $$ on your return this year.

I'd still recommend the Roth.
