taking creatine and glutamine??

I've read remember reading somewhere on this forum that taking creatine and glutamine peptides at the same time is a bad idea because they "compete with each other"?? Can someone explain if this is true and why? and also, what's the optimal time to take both/each if i work out at night?

If you sit at the table, and eat a huge meal... t-bone steak, mash potatoes, green beans, etc, etc,... will you have any problems with absortion???

w/o doing a major research I'd say no. Creatine isn't an amino acid so it shouldn't compete with glutamine for absorption. That said you shouldn't take an amino supplement. That will surely compete.

RE: Creatine and Glutamine

They will not compete for absorption with each other. However, unless your on a diet phase, glutamine will do absolutely NOTHING for you! If your bulking up, drop the glutamine and save your money! I suggest you read or re-read the studies on glutamine! Forget what AST Research says about glutamine. There a pathetic supplement company that is no different than MuscleTech. They simply want to seperate you from your money! It amazes me how many people are fooled by the glutamine supplement scam!!

Rod Munch,

What sources did you use that proves that glutamines wont benefit my bulking? I've been reading this forum for the past month or so and all the posts on glutamines show that is an important supplement to take and is very important. Most sources i've seen state that glutamine is beneficial to muscle recovery and volumization and it also reduces muscle deterioration.

If i can i'll try to explain this... Glutamine usage depends on your goal. If you are cutting up this is a good product, if you are bulking how you should then glutamine is a waste.

Why? Because if you are bulking you should be eating every 2.5 to 3 hours and solid meals all the time. If you take glutamine on this kind of schedule it will compete w/ the other aminos for absorption, thus rendering it useless. If you're cutting on the other hand you can use glutamine on an empty stomach and it will be absorbed and prevent catabolism.

Let me ask you something else? Has anyone ever said they gained 5 pounds on glutamine? Never. This product helps your muscles recover yes, but unless you can end up taking it on empty stomach it's not worth it. UNLESS... maybe you have glutamine peptides.

I am taking Sports One glutamine peptides i bought from DPSNutrition.com, so can i rest assured that im not just wasting my money taking glutamine peptides while bulking?
