Taking a break

How long do you guys go before you take some time off your training. I am 45 yrs old in good shape and have been doing 6 day a week training for the last 9 months. I feel great, but am wondering if I should give myself a week off. Any opinions.
 
I usually go about 9 weeks on and 1 week off. If my training gets really really intense i may take a little longer than a week off but i can say i come back a lot bigger and a lot stronger when i take a break on purpose but maybe do some light cardio just to kinda stay off my ass and not get lazy. You will notice awesome gains doing that :)

I agree completely and am pretty sure I will be following this, or at least doing 6 weeks on 1 week light.

At first I did 12 weeks with no light/rest period but that was when I was just beginning, now I'm on the 13th week and taking it really light so I can fully recover and start the cycle again, hopefully with some decent success.
 
like al said, breaks are good!!! I always come back stronger after a few days off after long periods... which tells me my body obviously needed it, and there's a little mental boost that comes with comes with it that kinda refreshes my training!! I don't take enough breaks though!!
 
5 days a week and 45 yr old here..

I like to take a full week off, twice a year..
If I go on vacation, I still usually want to get some exercise like swimming, walking etc. Just no lifting.
